Design Assistant | Residential Interior Design Firm Newport, RI | Working Style: In Office Do you have a passion for exceptional interior design, a creative eye for detail, and the organizational skills to keep incredible projects moving forward? We are seeking a Design Assistant to join our client's award-winning residential interior design team, known for creating timeless, sophisticated homes. This is an exciting opportunity for someone early in their design career who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow alongside an experienced team while working on luxury residential projects from concept through installation. - Work closely with the Lead Designer to bring design concepts from vision to reality
- Price and source furniture, lighting, textiles, finishes, and accessories for client projects
- Prepare polished, client-facing design presentations, specifications, and supporting materials
- Coordinate with Project Managers to ensure projects stay on schedule from concept through installation.
- Create and maintain Instagram Stories through a social media scheduler
- Capture behind-the-scenes content during site visits and installations
- Assist with Instagram content creation and documenting the design process in a way that reflects the brand
- Track product information, lead times, and design selections with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Maintain an organized design library by managing samples, materials, and vendor resources.
- Assist with general studio organization and day-to-day office support as needed
- Participate in project installations and on-site design support to ensure every detail is executed beautifully
- Communicate professionally with vendors and assist with product procurement and follow-up
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or a related field (preferred)
- 13 years of experience in residential interior design or a similar design role preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; experience with design software such as AutoCAD
- A strong eye for design, color, materials, and composition
- Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Social media savvy with a creative take on video and storytelling
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
- Passionate about interior design and excited to learn
- Able to travel overnight for installations, site visits, and company events
