Job Description

Amentum is currently seeking a Design and Branding Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Technical Communication, Marketing, and Branding to lead the design and implementation of a cohesive brand identity for the PMA-208 Aerial Targets Program Office. This position will be responsible for creating and managing all official communication documents and visual materials. The ideal candidate will be a creative and strategic thinker with a proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into compelling visual narratives. This role involves close collaboration with technical subject matter experts to develop high-impact illustrations, animations, and graphics that clearly depict sophisticated aerial target operations for a variety of stakeholders.

Work may include technical reporting of logistics planning, and classified systems management in compliance with DoW security and reporting requirements.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Brand Strategy & Management: Design and execute the official PMA-208 brand identity, including logos, templates, and style guides for all internal and external communications to ensure unified messaging and team alignment.

  • Technical Illustration & Animation: Work directly with engineers and technical experts to create detailed and accurate illustrations, graphics, and animations. Visuals will depict complex Concepts of Operations (CONOPs), including:

    • Electronic Warfare (EW) scenarios

    • Autonomous vehicle control and guidance

    • Autonomous multi-ship teaming and swarming

    • Aerial target engagements against weapon systems, radar systems, surface vessels, and aircraft-launched weapons.

  • Content Development: Develop and design impactful, on-brand materials including presentations, print and cross-platform digital assets, and event graphics.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Facilitate communication and collaboration between technical and non-technical teams, translating complex requirements into clear, actionable design tasks.

  • Project Management: Independently manage all aspects of the creative strategy and execution lifecycle, from initial concept to final delivery, ensuring high-quality deliverables that align with program objectives.

  • Document all tasking contributions in accordance with technical data and government reporting standards.

  • Follow all DoD cybersecurity, OPSEC, and AT/FP (Antiterrorism/Force Protection) protocols.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor Degree and 15+ years of experience in design and reporting and must demonstrate knowledge and familiarity with NAVAIR projects encompassing current naval aerial and land platforms.

  • Demonstrated experience developing brands and communications for NAVAIR, the Department of Defense, or related defense industry partners.

  • Expert proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Premiere Pro, for creating technical illustrations and motion graphics.

  • Proven ability to translate highly complex technical, scientific, or R&D concepts into clear, concise, and engaging visual content.

  • Strong portfolio showcasing brand design and management, multi-channel campaign development, and data visualization.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience facilitating meetings and aligning stakeholders around key initiatives.

  • An active Secret security clearance is required.

  • Familiarity with Navy’s Competency Aligned Organizational (CAO) structure and the Navy’s Integrated Product Team (IPT) structure.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must complete DoD Cybersecurity and OPSEC Level I training.

  • Must comply with all Common Access Card (CAC) and facility access background checks.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Typical off-site work environment with no unusual hazards, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness. Must possess planning/organizing skills and must be able to work under deadlines. This position is full-time.

Pay Rate: $72 – 90/ hour estimated.

Compensation Details:

$138,240 - 172,800 annually

The compensation range or hourly rate listed for this position is provided as a good-faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role at the time this posting was issued. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
