The Position
The Design and Catalog Manager drives and coordinates creative concepting, design development, and new product ideation for Spoke Customs Direct to Consumer (DTC) commercial activities. This role contributes directly to creative conception and design strategy while serving as a central coordinator between the design team, merchandising, and production partners. The manager helps translate commercial priorities into creative briefs, supports AI-enabled design workflows, and ensures projects move efficiently from concept to production. This role works closely with the Sr. Director of Sales to align creative programs with Spoke's Direct to Consumer growth initiatives and operational capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Creative Conception & Design Strategy Support:
- Initiate creative concept development, collection themes, and new product ideas across Spoke's DTC brands, including London Penny.
- Support and help execute design strategy and seasonal creative direction in partnership with leadership.
- Translates commercial and category priorities into actionable creative briefs and design programs.
- Conduct competitive research and surface emerging design, consumer, and product trends across home décor, lifestyle, gifting, pet, and seasonal categories.
AI-Enabled Design & Workflow Support:
- Use AI art and generative design tools to support ideation, rapid concept visualization, and creative exploration.
- Assist in refining AI-generated artwork into production-ready designs alongside designers.
- Lead document and maintain best practices for AI-assisted design workflows.
Design Coordination & Production Readiness:
- Coordinate the flow of design projects from concept through production handoff.
- Ensure artwork files, naming conventions, and documentation meet Spoke's production and quality standards.
- Partner with operations and manufacturing teams to confirm technical requirements and feasibility.
- Partner with marketing team to leverage product designs in ad campaigns and build /support advertising creative workflow
Team Coordination & Delivery Management:
- Coordinate day-to-day design assignments and project timelines across the design team.
- Track progress against schedules and deliverables and escalate risks or delays when needed.
- Support designers by organizing creative reviews, feedback cycles, and approvals.
Objectives & KPI Support: track creative and product KPIs, including:
- Design and collection launch cadence
- Speed-to-market for new designs
- Design utilization across product categories
- Ensure designs are best in class and provide competitive advantage
- Prepare reporting and updates for leadership on creative pipeline performance and workflow adherence.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Serve as the coordination point between the Sr. Director of Sales, designers, marketing, merchandising, and operations.
- Support launches, seasonal drops, and campaign execution across DTC brands.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of professional art and design development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and production-ready design workflows.
- Hands-on experience using AI-based creative and generative art tools.
- Experience coordinating creative projects and working with multiple stakeholders.
- Strong visual judgment and attention to detail for print and physical product design.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in print-on-demand, promotional products, or on-demand manufacturing environments.
- 2+ years of Shopify backend experience
- Experience supporting multi-SKU collections and seasonal product launches.
- Familiarity with e-commerce merchandising and creative performance metrics.
