About the Opportunity

The Design Director, Onshore Trading is accountable for design strategy, craft excellence, and measurable product outcomes across our Onshore-regulated trading experiences including the United States, Europe, Brazil, UAE, Singapore, and more. This includes spot and derivatives trading, investment strategy tools, fiat on/off ramps, and AI-powered capabilities that serve both retail and institutional users.

This position offers uniquely high visibility across product portfolios and executive leadership, with direct influence on decisions shaping the future of trading, payments, and AI-driven financial services.

The successful candidate will be accountable for ensuring design impacts direction, prioritization, and performance across onshore product portfolios-translating user insight and business strategy into experiences that drive adoption, engagement, and revenue.

What You'll Be Doing

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and own the design strategy and the user experience vision for onshore trading products, ensuring alignment with business objectives and measurable outcomes.

  • Influence inflection points in product strategy, ensuring design reduces risk and accelerates successful outcomes.

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Compliance, and regional teams to create evidence-backed recommendations that resonate with executives.

  • Communicate design direction through compelling narratives that drive alignment and action at senior levels.

Design Excellence

  • Establish and maintain exceptional craft standards across the design organization, with systematic approaches to visual design, interaction design, and design systems.

  • Lead design thinking methods at the executive level-facilitating workshops, sprints, and strategic framing sessions that translate ambiguous problems into actionable design direction.

  • Own end-to-end user journeys (web and mobile) from problem definition through post-launch iteration, with clear accountability for experience quality.

  • Simplify complex financial and trading concepts into intuitive experiences that serve users across the expertise spectrum.

Team Leadership

  • Build, develop, and advance a high-performing design team with strong craft capability, strategic thinking, and operational excellence.

  • Establish career paths, design culture, and mentorship structures that attract and retain exceptional talent.

  • Elevate design literacy and customer-centric decision-making across product and engineering partners.

Data-Driven Impact

  • Leverage behavioral data, user research, and market insights to validate design decisions and measure outcomes.

  • Translate design work into clear decisions, opportunity sizing, and prioritization that deliver measurable product and business improvement.

  • Establish design-driven KPIs and accountability for adoption, engagement, conversion, and retention metrics

What We Look For In You

Experience & Track Record

  • 12+ years of product design experience, including 5+ years in design leadership with direct team management.

  • Proven ability to turn customer insight and design strategy into measurable business outcomes-improved adoption, engagement, conversion, retention, or revenue growth.

  • Demonstrated experience influencing roadmap trade-offs, investment decisions, and product performance metrics.

  • Track record of delivering against aggressive timelines in regulated financial services environments.

Domain Expertise

  • Deep experience designing for financial products-trading platforms, investment tools, or fintech applications serving both retail and sophisticated users.

  • Demonstrated fluency in investment strategy concepts: portfolio construction, risk management, order types, market dynamics.

  • Experience designing for algorithmic, automated, or AI-powered product capabilities.

  • Understanding of regulatory constraints and compliance requirements in financial services (US market experience strongly preferred).

Design Craft & Methods

  • Exceptional visual and interaction design sensibility with a portfolio demonstrating systematic design decision-making and sophisticated execution.

  • Mastery of design thinking facilitation-ability to lead workshops, design sprints, and strategic framing sessions with executive stakeholders.

  • Expertise translating complex financial products into intuitive, accessible experiences without sacrificing power-user capability.

  • Strong command of design systems thinking and scalable design infrastructure.

Leadership & Influence

  • Proven ability to hire, mentor, and retain top design talent while fostering a culture of craft excellence and accountability.

  • Exceptional executive communication, strategic framing, and the ability to advocate for design decisions persuasively.

  • Success working across global teams, multiple time zones, and culturally diverse audiences.

  • Ability to operate in dynamic, fast-moving environments with clarity and composure.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Experience in fintech, crypto, or regulated financial services.

  • Background working with global teams across multiple time zones.

Perks & Benefits

  • Competitive total compensation package
