Job Description
Principle Duties (includes, but is not limited to):
- Provide all necessary internal and external technical support via direct communication to sales, marketing and customers for the complete range of instrumenation brands and assist in resolution of manufacturing problems as required.
- Assist in creating detailed 2D and 3D designs using CAD software. Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute innovative ideas for new products and enhancements.
- Work with senior engineers to develop prototypes and conduct tests to validate design concepts. Document test results and assist in analyzing data to make necessary design adjustments.
- Establish a strong focus on internal and external customer service that includes on-time submittals of engineering documentation for customer quotations and orders.
- Ensure proper upkeep and maintenance of revision controlled technical documents & product compliances like ASME, API, ISO, PED and CRN.
- Prepare and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including design specifications, drawings, and technical reports. Ensure all documentation meets industry standards and company guidelines.
- Maintain weekly, monthly and quarterly NPD cadence and ensure successful execution of NPD deliverables.
- Develop excellent rapport with the offshore design teams and cross functional team members towards collaborative and innovative development of new products identified to grow business.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and marketing, to ensure designs meet customer needs and production capabilities. Participate in design reviews and project meetings.
- Conduct or provide detailed input for engineering testing of product including written test plans, DVP&R, DFMEA and final engineering reports.
- Possess an understanding of static linear FEA to determine compliance to published design codes and other applicable design standards.
- Review and approve Engineering Changes (EC’s) and Engineering Deviation Authorizations (EA’s) applicable to product line responsibilities.
- Stay updated on the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies. Propose and implement process improvements to enhance design efficiency and product quality.
- Collaborate with peers to determine department goals and objectives and maintain all necessary Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) applicable product lines including input for annual budget planning.
Essential Qualifications / Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and Manufacturing experience required.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar). Basic understanding of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with additional design and analysis software (e.g., ANSYS, MATLAB) is advantageous
- Proficient in computer skills, including extensive working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Access, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint).
- Basic understanding of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges and responsibilities.
- Ability to work independently, resolve technical and manufacturing issues without detailed direction.
- Possess excellent organizational, communication, proofreading, editing and technical writing skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in design work and documentation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., EIT, DFSS, Lean Six Sigma) are a plus.
