Design Engineer – Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings (Remote)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This is a fully remote position responsible for designing Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB) systems for commercial and industrial projects across the United States. The ideal candidate will hold an active Professional Engineer (PE) license with licensure in multiple states and have a strong background in PEMB design. This is a technical engineering role—previous management experience is not required.
Responsibilities
- Design pre-engineered metal building systems in accordance with project specifications and applicable building codes.
- Perform structural calculations for framing members, connections, and foundation reactions.
- Review architectural and structural drawings to ensure accurate building design.
- Coordinate with project managers, detailers, estimators, and customers throughout the design process.
- Review and seal engineering documents where required.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable local, state, and national building codes.
- Provide technical support to internal teams and customers.
Qualifications
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Licensure in multiple states with the ability to obtain additional state licenses as needed.
- 5+ years of experience designing Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB) systems.
- Strong understanding of structural steel design, wind loads, seismic design, and applicable building codes.
- Experience with PEMB engineering software and structural analysis programs.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing commercial, industrial, warehouse, manufacturing, and distribution facilities.
- Familiarity with AISC, AISI, MBMA, ASCE 7, and IBC requirements.
- Multi-state engineering licensure with an active NCEES Record is a plus.
