Job Description

Job Title: Design EngineerPay Range: $44.14/hr Schedule: Flex time, core hours are 7: 30 am to 4: 00 pm, 40 hrs/weekWork Site: 370 W. Waukau Ave. , WIOpen for Hybrid or remote: yesPreferred experience: 3+ years of experience with strong mechanical background.

The Engineer –Mechanical designs functional, reliable and cost effective heavy duty vehicle components. Perform engineering analysis and design or re-design, and development of components into existing and new vehicles. YOUR IMPACT:Under close supervision, perform basic engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according toas well as general industry engineering standards and processes.Support senior engineers in the preparation of basic plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting. Under close supervision, work on projects of limited complexity in a support role.Collaborate as needed with other engineering or business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical issues. Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards. Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures.Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability. Perform and Directs preparation of layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material.Perform engineering analysis to support the selection of parts, components, and materials that meet requirements.Provide non-complex technical assistance for production support. Analyze and resolve issues reported to Engineering via verbal or written communication.Prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, and presentations.Utilize analytical and mathematical approaches to calculate or model system performance and optimize designs. Analyze and resolve issues reported to Engineering and communicate status via verbal or written communication.Other duties as assigned.Regular attendance is required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Accredited Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field along with Internship experience or six (6) or more months of related work experience.Mechanical knowledge of automotive or heavy-vehicle equipment and related systems. Experience with a high level CAD system.A minimum of 6 months of experience, including internship.CORE COMPETENCIES: Internal Contacts: Contact with peers and others involving explanation of information (these contacts may be within or outside department or division), and the gathering of factual information;may include the communication of sensitive or confidential information.External Contacts: Limited external contact to: gather information, answer queries, or ask assistance.Communication Skills: Read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos;Read and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions and procedure manuals;Write routine reports, correspondence and speak effectively before both internal and external groups;Read, analyze and interpret business manuals, technical procedures and/or government regulations: Read, analyze and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.Complexity, Judgment and Problem Solving: Generally structured work, but involving a choice of action within limits of standard policy and procedures. Supervisory/Managerial: General instructing, scheduling, and reviewing the work of others performing the same or directly related work.
