Job Description

The Design Engineer will be responsible for developing new products and accessories, improving legacy products, and providing sound engineering analysis while guiding junior R&D staff. The role requires attention to detail, independent and team-based work, and proactive collaboration with Engineering, Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, and Assembly.

Description

Reporting into the Director of Engineering, this individual will be responsible for the following:

    • Developing innovative, cost‑effective products.
    • Create and review drawings with proper dimensioning, GD&T, ASME Y14.5 compliance, and required tolerance stack analyses.
    • Perform complex engineering analyses (FEA, motion, heat transfer, etc.).
    • Process change orders in the PLM system and ensure accurate assemblies and BOMs.
    • Develop thorough test plans, coordinate testing activities, and validate test data, conclusions, and reports.
    • Drive DFM efforts, collaborate with Manufacturing and suppliers, manage cost targets, and evaluate part inspection data.
    • Conduct patent searches, support patent applications, and develop IP through studies and documentation.
    • Lead improvements to technical methods, design practices, and broader R&D processes.
    • Lead and maintain 5S initiatives within the department.
    • Follow all Safety and ISO procedures.

Profile

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Robotics, etc.
  • 3+ years of experience in design engineering
  • Proficient in CAD software
  • Capable of generating ASME Y14.5 compliant drawings
  • Knowledge of injection molding, stamping, extrusion, casting, heat treatment, coatings
  • Experience in motion controls, kinematics, power transmission, electromechanical machine design, robotics, automotive or printing press
