The Design Materials Assistant is an important member of the Design Operations Team. The Design Materials Assistant primary focus is physical mock-up installation and material organization in support of the Design Operations and Product Design teams. The role also includes a range of other activities related to our flooring categories and design materials.
Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma required.
Some college studies preferred.
Skills and Experience Requirements:
One or more years of office organizational responsibilities required.
1-3 years related training or experience working in a creative design studio or related field/work environment preferred.
Experience in tufting, yarn, or similar materials and processes preferred.
Experience in flooring installation preferred.
Proven communication skills, written and verbal.
Proven time management and multitasking abilities.
Proven problem-solving aptitude.
Must be able to recognize color and follow templates.
Essential Duties:
Executing temporary flooring mock-up installations.
Frequently moving and laying out carpet tiles.
Identify, locate, and verify material accuracy to request.
Understanding the sampling process to verify yarns and products.
Verify yarn colors in carpet samples.
Creating physical marketing material:
Ability to translate a digital template into tactile presentation
Measure and cut material to specification
Identify and verify material to request
Adhere a range of materials to varying substrates
Labeling final output with legible and neat handwriting
Operation of label creator and other desktop tools
Working with detail and care for collaborator's facing outputs.
Maintain and support organizational systems and spaces utilized by the design team.
Assisting the Design Operations Coordinator in daily tasks.
Assist the Design Operations Coordinator in maintaining material storage/organization.
Assist the Design Operations team, along with Global Product Development/Custom team when needed.
Maximize scheduled hours to support any additional operational team needs.
Physical Demands:
Frequent lifting of up to 40 lbs
Frequent bending and/or crouching during material installation
Sitting or standing up to 8 hours
Use of manual manufacturing and warehouse equipment
Use of standard office equipment and computer
Frequently works under tight deadlines
Work Environment:
Open office environment and manufacturing areas
