Description

Shive-Hattery's Chicago, IL office has an immediate opening for a new graduate or early career Design Professional with 1 to 3 years of professional experience. This opportunity is a full-time position for a motivated individual with the ability to work & learn and the goal of obtaining an Architect license or NCIDQ certification.

Under the direction of the Studio Leader this position performs a variety of duties associated with design expertise primarily on Commercial and Workplace projects and related services, to assist in achieving desired client satisfaction, and business results.

• Participates and contributes to design discussions, idea generation, collaboration, and design work in drawing, model and 3D image formats.
• Manages the production and coordination of design process and technical documents under the direction of a licensed design professional.
• Creates graphical images
• Produces design and detailing in Revit
• Attends project and client meetings with design professionals, Interior Designers, and Architects
• Interacts with and is a representative of Shive-Hattery with clients and contractors as it relates to on-going projects
• Participates in applicable AIA, NCARB, and/or community activities as able

Requirements

• Education: Completion of accredited professional degree program with a Bachelors degree or Masters degree in architecture, interior design, or equivalent in appropriate education and experience
• Experience: Entry level position and applies to new graduates and individuals with up to 3 years' experience; additional Internships/summer experience is a plus
• License/Certification: None
• Basic knowledge of design of architectural systems, construction documentation and associated technology
• Demonstrates a high degree of aptitude in critical, creative thinking associated with design and the design process
• Basic understanding of architectural specifications, international building codes, life safety code and current ADA requirements.
• Knowledge of programming, planning, and building performance is beneficial
• Motivated and creative professional
• Self-motivated and able to problem-solve independently.
• Practical experience with Autodesk Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and Google SketchUp is required. Working knowledge of AutoCAD is beneficial
• Excellent communication skills
• Compensation Range: $50,000 - $70,000
