- DevOps Engineer Modernization Location: Wilmington, DE Overview We are seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer to help build and mature our DevOps function as part of a larger platform modernization initiative. This role will focus on transitioning legacy applications into a modern, scalable ecosystem by creating a centralized DevOps platform with self-service capabilities for development teams. The ideal candidate is hands-on, collaborative, and deeply experienced in modern DevOps engineering—particularly around automation, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and on-premise environments. Key Responsibilities Lead efforts to build out a centralized DevOps platform supporting CI/CD automation, environment provisioning, and developer self-service. Support the modernization of legacy applications by implementing modern DevOps tooling, automation frameworks, and best practices. Develop, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines across multiple technologies and application teams. Implement automation using Ansible, scripting, and infrastructure-as-code approaches. Work closely with engineering, architecture, and platform teams to streamline software delivery processes. Administer, enhance, and enforce best practices around GitHub repositories, branching strategies, workflows, and deployments. Ensure DevOps solutions integrate seamlessly with existing on-prem infrastructure while supporting future cloud-ready architectures. Troubleshoot complex pipeline, build, deployment, and environment issues across multiple development teams. Contribute to documentation, governance, and DevOps standards across the organization. Required Skills & Experience GitHub (repos, actions, workflows, branching strategies) Hands-on experience with DevOps engineering and CI/CD platform creation Strong coding/scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc.) Ansible automation experience Deep experience with on-premises environments (CI/CD, networking fundamentals, compute/storage concepts, infrastructure integration) Proven experience working with legacy applications and modernizing them through automation Ability to design scalable, automated DevOps architectures supporting multiple development teams
