Engineering at Levelpath:

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to help us build and scale our public-facing products.

To be successful in this role, you must have proven experience with Terraform and AWS (with an emphasis on IAM, ECS, RDS, Route53, S3, SES, etc.) and a track record of collaborating closely with engineering teams (we use Ruby on Rails and React).

This position is based onsite in our San Francisco office. In this role, you will be pivotal in elevating our infrastructure, with a specialized focus on maximizing system performance and revolutionizing our observability by integrating AI. You will be joining a high-performance engineering culture that aggressively leverages AI to build a self-improving platform that multiplies developer productivity and accelerates delivery. You'll be part of a dynamic, international team in an agile environment that is obsessed with iterating quickly to delight our customers.

What You Will Do:

• Build, maintain, and scale infrastructure for our growing applications using Terraform.

• Spearhead system performance improvements, optimizing resource utilization, reducing latency, and ensuring high availability across our AWS environment.

• Level up our observability story, designing and implementing comprehensive monitoring, logging, and tracing frameworks.

• Introduce and integrate AI into our observability stack (AIOps) to enable predictive alerting, automated anomaly detection, and smarter, faster incident response.

• Leverage AI coding assistants and autonomous agents to accelerate Infrastructure as Code (IaC) development, streamline automation scripting, and rapidly debug complex infrastructure issues.

• Use your expertise to improve overall infrastructure quality, developer tooling, and CI/CD processes.

• Collaborate tightly with our backend (Ruby on Rails) and frontend (React) teams to streamline deployments and operations.

• Work with the compliance team to ensure our infrastructure maintains strict SOC2, GDPR, and CCPA compliance.

What You Bring to the Table:

• Deep understanding of Linux and networking, coupled with strong troubleshooting skills.

• Proven hands-on expertise with Terraform, AWS, and Git.

• Experience with modern observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana), alongside a strong interest or background in applying AI/machine learning to operational data.

• A proven track record of identifying bottlenecks and successfully improving system performance at scale.

• Proficiency or strong eagerness to utilize AI-driven development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, or similar agents) to boost your own productivity and optimize infrastructure engineering workflows.

• Familiarity with GitHub Actions and Terraform Cloud is a plus.

• Demonstrated ownership: you take responsibility for problems end-to-end and drive them to resolution without waiting to be told.

• Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.

• A highly collaborative mindset; you enjoy working in a team and helping your peers succeed.

• Knowledge of backend systems/frameworks like Ruby on Rails or Django is a strong plus.
