Sentara is hiring a Diabetes Care & Education Specialist- Registered Dietician (RD), at Princess Anne Hospital, in Virginia Beach, VA.

Shift: Full Time, primarily First Shift. Some weekends and nights required

Serves as an expert clinician, consistently serving as a clinical resource to patients and staff. Provides diabetes education to inpatients and/or outpatients; keeps current with diabetes management. Provides diabetes education to health care team.

  • Job Description

Plans and coordinates education and care of patients/persons with diabetes across a continuum in collaboration with other disciplines, community agencies and Sentara subsidiaries. Provides staff education, educates/counsels patients to promote wellness and prevention of complications in persons with diabetes. Serves as a clinical resource person for the clinical staff serving the inpatient and/or outpatient population.

Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) required within 2.5 years of hire.

If Bachelor's Degree is in major other than Dietetics, must complete an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics.

Education

Certification/Licensure

  • Registered Dietician (RD)- Certifications- Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) REQUIRED

  • Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) required within 2.5 years of hire

Experience

  • Prior Diabetes, Glucose management, Glycemia, diabetes education and/or related experience strongly preferred
