Position Overview
The Outpatient Dialysis Technician provides compassionate, high-quality care to patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) receiving chronic hemodialysis treatments. This position requires flexibility in scheduling and the ability to float between University of Vermont Medical Center dialysis locations in South Burlington, St. Albans, and Berlin as needed.
This is a travel contract opportunity with no call requirements, but Saturday shifts are required.
Key Responsibilities
Provide safe and effective dialysis treatment to chronic renal patients.
Monitor and document patient vital signs, machine parameters, and treatment progress.
Prepare, operate, and maintain dialysis equipment in accordance with policy and safety standards.
Accurately record and report patient data using EPIC EMR.
Collaborate with nurses, nephrologists, and other healthcare team members to ensure continuity of care.
Educate and support patients regarding their dialysis treatments and self-care.
Maintain infection control standards and ensure a clean, safe clinical environment.
Float to satellite dialysis units (St. Albans and Berlin) as assigned.
Schedule & Requirements
Shift Flexibility: Must be available for varying 8-, 9-, 10-, or 12-hour shifts.
Workdays: Monday–Sunday schedule with Saturday coverage required.
Holidays: Must be available to work 2 out of the 4 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Day).
No call requirement for this role.
Floating between regional locations is required.
Qualifications
Certification: CCHT – Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (Required)
CPR: American Heart Association (AHA) BLS (Required)
Experience:
Minimum 2 years total dialysis experience (Required)
Minimum 1 year outpatient dialysis experience (Required)
EPIC EMR experience within the past 2 years (Required and nonnegotiable)
Prior travel assignment experience (Preferred)
