Job Title: Diesel Mechanic / TechnicianLocation: Columbus, NE Pay: Starting at $20.00/hour (DOE)Job Type: Full-TimeJob Description:We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic/Technician to join a growing team in Columbus! In this role, you will inspect, diagnose, repair and maintain diesel engines and vehicles such as trucks and buses. This is a hands-on position ideal for someone with strong mechanical knowledge, problem-solving skills and a commitment to safety and quality work.Key Responsibilities:
- Perform inspections and diagnose issues with engines, brakes, transmissions and steering systems
- Repair or replace faulty components including mechanical and electrical parts
- Complete routine maintenance such as oil changes, fluid checks and tire rotations
- Overhaul and rebuild engines;assist with emission system upgrades
- Conduct safety inspections to ensure compliance with regulations
- Test-drive vehicles after repairs to ensure proper performance
- Maintain accurate records of services, repairs and inspections
- Fabricate and modify parts as needed using various tools and equipment
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems and components
- Experience with diagnostic tools and software
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and perform physical tasks (stooping, kneeling, crawling)
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality work
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Valid driver s license required
- Stable, full-time position
