Diesel Mechanic Manager $2300 w/ OT>+ WEEKLYJoin SAVARD Personnel Group - where your skills are valued!We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic to lead our in-house maintenance operations. This role is responsible for overseeing all maintenance and repair activities, managing shop personnel, coordinating parts and inventory, and ensuring maximum equipment uptime. This is a leadership position requiring both technical expertise and strong organizational skills.Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily shop operations and maintenance activities for all heavy equipment
- Supervise, train, and manage shop mechanics and support staff
- Diagnose complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues when needed
- Plan and prioritize repairs to minimize equipment downtime and support operations
- Implement and manage preventative maintenance programs
- Create, review, and approve parts requisitions and ensure accurate ordering of parts and materials
- Manage parts inventory levels, vendors, and purchasing processes
- Track and control maintenance costs, budgets, and repair timelines
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, service logs, and reporting
- Coordinate with operations teams to schedule repairs and equipment availability
- Ensure all equipment meets safety and compliance standards
- Enforce shop safety policies and OSHA regulations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient shop environment

- Other diesel-powered heavy machinery
- 5+ years of experience in heavy equipment or diesel mechanics
- 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
- Proven ability to manage a maintenance shop or team
- Experience with budgeting, cost tracking, and vendor management
- Valid driver’s license required

- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in computer systems required, including:
- Creating and approving parts requisitions
- Tracking work orders, inventory, and repair costs
- Ability to source and identify correct parts using manuals and digital systems
- Strong communication skills with both field and management teams
- Ability to work under pressure and make decisions quickly
- Detail-oriented with a focus on efficiency and cost control
- 7:00 am- 4:00 pm Monday- Friday
- Some weekends and overtime required
