*Signing Bonus $1,500.00 – 2+ years experience

LOCATION:Petersburg, Virginia & Surrounding Areas (including into North Carolina)

TYPE:Full-Time (Monday-Friday, Dayshift)

SUMMARY:

The Heavy Truck / Diesel Mechanic position requires a strong mechanical aptitude. Our team of technicians service; including repair, install and maintain a variety of pieces of heavy equipment including hydrovacs, vac trucks, street sweeper, refuse and recycling equipment.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Inspect and troubleshoot equipment failures and perform hydraulic, electrical and mechanical repairs on various types of equipment
• Perform diagnostics to determine repairs required
• Conduct routine preventative maintenance
• Communicate effectively with the Parts & Service teams on job progress and status changes
• Update work order system

• Maintain organized and safe work area, shop tools and service vans

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education from an accredited technical school in diesel engine/hydraulics/heavy equipment repair preferred but not required
• Valid CDL driver’s license (or ability to obtain a CDL) and a clean driver’s abstract
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check
• 3+ years’ experience working in a mechanic / technician role
• Experienced with hydraulic and/or electrical work

Employees must:

• Work in compliance with the appropriate safety legislation/regulations/safety policies
• Report any known workplace hazard or safety violations
• Cooperate with their workplace’s Safety Committee or health and safety representative

• Use any safety equipment, protective devices or clothing required
• Not remove or make ineffective any protective device required by the Company or by the regulations.

• Shop, Warehouse, Yard environment
• Frequent exposure to noise, dust and dirt

Physical Demand:

• Frequently required to lift and move moderately heavy objects (50lbs)
• Frequently standing and walking
