Job Title: Digital Experience Design UX/UI Designer
Position Overview
The Digital Experience Design UX/UI Designer will be part of a collaborative Experience Design (XD) team focused on delivering user-centered design solutions that enhance digital products and services. This role partners cross-functionally with product, engineering, and business teams to design intuitive, accessible, and impactful user experiences across the product lifecycle.Location: Birmingham, AL (Hybrid – 3 days onsite, 2 days remote)Schedule: 40 hours/week | Standard business hoursDuration: 6 Months Open EndedPay Rate: $72–$73/hr (W2 Only)Work Authorization: W2 only – No C2CRelocation: Not available – Local or willing to commute candidates only
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design initiatives to deliver user-centered, visually compelling, and functional digital experiences
- Own and manage medium-to-large design projects across the full product lifecycle
- Translate business requirements and functional specifications into clear design solutions and roadmaps
- Design information architecture, user interfaces, and interaction flows for digital products
- Create user flows, journey maps, wireframes, and low-to-high fidelity prototypes
- Develop detailed UI specifications for engineering teams to ensure accurate implementation
- Collaborate closely with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to align on design goals
- Ensure designs adhere to established design systems, accessibility standards, and industry best practices
- Participate in usability testing and observational research to inform design decisions
- Contribute to Agile ceremonies including stand-ups, PI Planning, retrospectives, and Inspect & Adapt sessions
- Partner with accessibility teams to ensure compliance with accessibility requirements
- Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and design improvements
- Mentor junior designers and contribute to team growth
- Advocate for user-centered design principles across the organization
- Ensure compliance with risk, security, and regulatory requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 6+ years of UX/UI or experience design experience OR High School Diploma/GED with 10+ years of related experience
- Strong experience with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite
- Proven ability to translate complex requirements into intuitive design solutions
- Experience designing user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and UI specifications
- Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams including product and engineering
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in financial services, insurance, or other highly regulated environments
- Experience designing internally-facing applications
- Exposure to modern prototyping tools (e.g., Figma Make)
- Advanced expertise in UX/UI design, interaction design, and information architecture
- Strong understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices
- Ability to interpret and apply regulatory and compliance requirements
- Strong problem-solving and design thinking capabilities
- Proven ability to own projects, define scope, and prioritize work independently
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- High level of accountability, initiative, and adaptability
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work
- Ability to effectively collaborate in Agile environments
