Job Description
We are seeking a high-caliber Senior Product Owner / Digital Product Manager (DPM) to bridge the gap between US-based insurance business stakeholders and a global engineering team.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring deep insurance domain expertise, strong Agile execution skills, and the ability to manage the full product lifecycle-from high-level roadmap planning to final UAT sign-off.
You will lead requirement elaboration, maintain high-quality technical/functional documentation, and drive Agile delivery through effective Jira story writing and backlog management.
Key Responsibilities1. Requirement Elaboration & Documentation- Discovery & Synthesis: Conduct deep-dive sessions with underwriters, actuaries, and claims experts to extract complex business rules.
- Functional Specification: Create and maintain:
- Functional Requirement Documents (FRDs)
- Process flow diagrams
- Data mapping documents
- Knowledge Repository: Own and manage documentation in Confluence (or similar), ensuring:
- Version control
- Searchability
- Single Source of Truth for stakeholders and offshore teams
- Backlog Excellence: Translate product roadmap into a well-defined, prioritized backlog in Jira.
- User Story Crafting: Write "Ready-to-Dev" stories using the INVEST principle, including:
- Clear business context & value
- Detailed functional requirements
- Strong acceptance criteria (Happy path + Edge cases)
- Technical Mapping: Define data source-to-target mappings and business logic, especially for Snowflake-based data platforms.
- Vision Ownership: Partner with VP/SVP-level stakeholders to define and evolve the product roadmap.
- Stakeholder Alignment: Balance MVP delivery vs. future enhancements while managing:
- Business expectations
- Technical debt
- Value delivery
- Sprint Orchestration: Lead Agile ceremonies:
- Daily stand-ups
- Sprint planning
- Backlog refinement
- Retrospectives
- Functional Triage: Act as the primary contact for offshore teams to resolve requirement ambiguities in real time.
- UAT & Quality Assurance:
- Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- Coordinate with business users
- Manage defect triage in Jira
- Ensure final sign-off before production release
- 10+ years of experience in:
- Property & Casualty (P&C)
- Life Insurance
- Specialty Insurance
- Strong understanding of:
- Policy lifecycle
- Claims processing
- Regulatory reporting
- Advanced experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Proven ability to scale Agile in global delivery models
- Expert in:
- Jira
- Confluence
- Experience with:
- Visio / Lucidchart / Miro (process mapping)
- Ability to work with:
- Snowflake schemas
- SQL logic
- API integrations
- Strong collaboration with data engineering teams
- Ability to translate:
- "Insurance language" "Technical/Developer language"
- Strong stakeholder communication across business and technical teams
- Backlog Health: 2 3 sprints of "ready" stories available at all times
- Requirement Clarity: Minimal rework or "return-to-PO" feedback
- UAT Success Rate: High percentage of first-time approval from business users
