Residential Caregiver - Special Needs

Are you looking to make a difference in the life of an individual living with autism?

Pacific Autism Center for Education (PACE) is currently seeking high energy and enthusiastic residential caregivers to assist in one of our 6 residential group homes in Sunnyvale where we provide 24/7 caregiver in-home support.

  • As a professional caregiver, your goal is to bring your passion and love for working with residents with special needs to work every day. Our team teaches the residents functional daily living skills, helps them during community outings, assists with behavioral supports, etc. As caregivers, your goal is to provide these special individuals the best possible opportunity for a bright and successful future! Both Full Time or Part Time positions are available.

Requirements

PACE is looking for individuals who are passionate about supporting adults in a residential group home setting with 5-6 residents and typically 2 other staff members. While past residential staff or caregiver experience is preferred, PACE will help support new candidates with paid ongoing training to learn the position. Caregiver opportunities available both part time and full time.

Locations:

Sunnyvale

Work Shifts:

  • Tuesday and Thursday (2pm-10pm)
  • Saturday and/or Sunday (6am-2pm or 2pm-10pm)

Minimum Qualifications:

    1. HS Diploma or GED preferred.
    1. Must read and speak English and have good verbal and written communication skills in English as a caregiver.
    1. Must have clean Criminal Record. Applicants will be fingerprinted after they have accepted a job offer. Applicant also required to complete physical and TB screen after offer.
  • Preferred: ability to drive a passenger van for residents' outings
  • Must be willing to assist with grooming, toileting and personal care.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Must be able to lift and or push at least 45 lbs. with assistance.

  2. The ability to physically support the resident as needed during behavioral issues (redirecting).

  3. Must be able to physically bend, squat, reach over shoulders, reach over head, reach outward, kneel, sit, walk on normal, slippery, or uneven surfaces and stand.

The DSP must be able to physically support each other with consumer behavioral issues/care, as well as the ability to respond to emergency situations appropriately.

Employees working 30+ hours/week qualify for Medical, Vision, and Dental benefits on the first of the month following date of employment. Vacation and sick time start accruing at date of hire upon eligibility.
