Job Description

The Group:

Morningstar Wealth is a core part of the broader Morningstar group, empowering investor success by delivering world-class investment products and technology solutions to advisors, individuals, and the businesses who serve them. As a global team, we build upon our renowned data, research, analytics and thought leadership to deliver intelligent, flexible, and scalable products into the hands of our clients. By bringing the best of Morningstar together, we remove friction, save time, and help clients achieve goals.

Position Summary:

The Director of Advisor Practice Management will lead the development and delivery of Morningstar's advisor consulting and practice management strategy. This individual contributor role is responsible for helping financial advisors build stronger, more productive businesses while increasing advisor satisfaction, engagement, and retention.

Acting as a trusted consultant to advisors and a strategic partner to the distribution organization, the Director will create scalable programs, thought leadership, and coaching frameworks that address key advisor challenges including growth, client acquisition, segmentation, staffing, succession planning, business development, productivity, and practice management.

This individual will also help advisors unlock additional value from Morningstar's broader capabilities, ensuring Morningstar is viewed as a strategic business partner rather than solely an investment management provider.

  • Help advisors improve business growth, productivity, client experience, and operational effectiveness.

  • Develop thought leadership on advisor growth, business management, succession planning, staffing, and client acquisition.
  • Maintain a forward-looking perspective on industry trends and advisor business challenges.

Distribution Enablement

  • Partner closely with sales leadership, relationship managers, and portfolio specialists.
  • Equip field teams with practice management insights and tools that deepen advisor relationships.
  • Support strategic advisor and home-office engagements.

Advisor Engagement

  • Lead webinars, workshops, conference presentations, and advisor events.
  • Increase participation and engagement in practice management offerings.
  • Help establish Morningstar as a leading thought partner to advisors.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner across investment management, wealth, marketing, research, and product teams.
  • Identify opportunities to connect advisor needs with relevant Morningstar capabilities.
  • Support initiatives that deepen client relationships and strengthen retention.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in wealth management, asset management, advisor consulting, or practice management
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Significant experience working directly with financial advisors
  • Proven track record developing advisor-facing consulting programs and thought leadership
  • CFP and/or CIMA preferred
