Job Description

The Director of Inventory Control oversees all inventory operations across multiple Assurant DCC facilities. This role ensures optimal inventory levels, accuracy, and process efficiency to support production, distribution, and financial performance. The ideal candidate combines strategic leadership with hands‑on operational expertise, bringing deep knowledge of inventory systems, forecasting, and cross‑functional planning.

This is an onsite role in either our Lewisville TX or Mt Juliet TN facilities, with monthly travel to the other site.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

  • Develop and execute inventory control strategies across all DCC Operations
  • Lead inventory planning, forecasting, and scheduling in partnership with site and functional leaders
  • Design, implement, and maintain systems for inventory tracking, auditing, and reporting
  • Establish and monitor KPIs to ensure accuracy, operational efficiency, and compliance
  • Oversee physical counts, cycle counts, reconciliation, and discrepancy resolution
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize inventory processes, systems, and workflows
  • Support automation, digital transformation, and system enhancements within inventory operations
  • Hire, develop, evaluate, and coach team members; take disciplinary action when appropriate
  • Define clear performance standards and ensure consistent evaluation across the team
  • Build and maintain an effective organizational structure with proper staffing, role clarity, workflow design, and communication systems
  • Set short‑ and long‑term goals for inventory operations; develop and execute plans aligned with broader business objectives
  • Develop and manage the department's operating budget
  • Establish and maintain document controls to ensure inventory accuracy and regulatory compliance
  • Prepare and present regular reports, metrics, and analyses; initiate corrective actions when needed
  • Serve as a liaison with internal business partners to integrate inventory operations into the company's overall fulfillment strategy
  • Stay current with industry developments, inventory best practices, and emerging technologies

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field
  • 7+ years of inventory management experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role
  • Experience in high‑volume or fast‑paced environments
  • Strong working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems, WIP & Planning; Oracle experience preferred
  • Demonstrated success leading inventory control operations at both strategic and tactical levels
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency with ERP, inventory software, and reporting tools
  • Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage complex projects
  • Excellent communication, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills
  • Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or logistics environments preferred
  • Understanding of BOM structures and WIP control systems

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • APICS CPIM certification
  • Ability to lead through multiple teams and layers of the organization
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate at all levels
  • Effective at managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment with frequent re‑prioritization
  • Comfortable making decisions with limited data and operating with a high degree of autonomy
  • Experience with Visio, Microsoft Office, and related operational software tools
  • Ability to partner with IT teams on systems enhancements and business process changes
  • Knowledge of inventory and warehouse operations, Lean/6 Sigma tools, manufacturing processes, automation, systems integration, and new product introduction
  • Familiarity with HR policies, resource planning, and organizational development

Pay Range:

$122,400.00 - $204,400.00

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
