The Role

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a strategic advisor to business leaders, aligning people strategy with business objectives. This role partners closely with leaders to drive organizational effectiveness, talent development, workforce planning, employee engagement, and performance outcomes.

This position is based in Portsmouth, NH and supports the Paymode Revenue Growth & Operations organization. This organization brings together the teams that drive Paymode’s growth and operational execution in support of Paymode’s transactional business.

The HRBP will serve as a trusted partner to leaders across this integrated organization, supporting scale, alignment, and organizational health in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Location: Portsmouth, NH (Hybrid preferred; regular onsite presence required)

How you’ll contribute

Strategic Partnership

  • Partner closely with leaders to align people strategy with Paymode Revenue Growth & Operations priorities.
  • Support an integrated organization spanning revenue growth, product, operations, and financial planning, ensuring clear role design, operating rhythms, and accountability.
  • Provide thought leadership on organizational design, workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development.
  • Coach leaders on change management, leadership effectiveness, and cross-functional collaboration as teams evolve and scale.
  • Support performance management cycles, including goal setting and calibration, with a focus on alignment across revenue, product, and operations teams.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition on recruiting strategies for critical roles, leveraging understanding of both Paymode’s business needs and the local/regional talent market.
  • Provide hands-on guidance on employee relations matters, ensuring fair, consistent, and timely application of policies.
  • Conduct investigations as needed and advise leaders on risk mitigation and resolution strategies.
  • Maintain a visible, accessible HR presence for leaders and employees in the Portsmouth location.

If you have the attributes, skills, and experience listed below, we want to hear from you.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including experience as an HRBP or HR generalist supporting senior leaders.
  • Experience supporting revenue, product, operations, fintech, SaaS, or transactional business models strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and build credibility with senior leaders.
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort using HR data to drive decisions.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR/SPHR certification preferred.

Work Environment

  • Based in Portsmouth, NH, with a regular onsite presence expected.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
