Job Description

Eaton is accelerating global growth through strategic investments in manufacturing, innovation, and workplace environments. The Director of Construction Projects will lead Eaton's global portfolio of capital construction projects across manufacturing facilities, R&D centers, offices, distribution centers, and other corporate sites.

Reporting to the Vice President, Global Real Estate, this role provides executive leadership for the full project lifecycle, from capital planning and project inception through design, construction, commissioning, and final handover. The Director will establish enterprise project governance, drive construction and design standards, and ensure project investments align with Eaton's strategic, operational, and financial objectives.

This highly visible leadership position requires extensive cross-functional collaboration, executive stakeholder engagement, and oversight of external partners to deliver projects safely, on time, within budget, and to Eaton's quality standards.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $182000 - $266000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Key Responsibilities:

Portfolio & Project Leadership

  • Lead Eaton's global capital project portfolio, including greenfield sites, expansions, manufacturing modernization, R&D facilities, offices, distribution centers, and other strategic investments.
  • Oversee all phases of project execution from planning and design through construction, commissioning, and turnover.
  • Prioritize projects to support growth, capacity expansion, operational objectives, and footprint optimization while minimizing business disruption.

Capital Planning & Governance

  • Develop business cases, capital requests, budgets, schedules, and resource plans.
  • Establish project governance, stage-gate reviews, and risk management processes to ensure disciplined execution and investment alignment.
  • Drive consistency, accountability, and capital efficiency across the project portfolio.

Program Controls & Risk Management

  • Implement project controls for cost, schedule, scope, quality, and risk.
  • Monitor performance metrics, resolve issues proactively, and drive value engineering and contingency planning to maximize outcomes.

Partner & Contractor Management

  • Lead selection and oversight of developers, architects, engineers, contractors, and project management partners.
  • Direct RFPs, contract negotiations, sourcing strategies, and vendor performance management to ensure safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives are achieved.

Stakeholder Engagement & Executive Reporting

  • Partner with business leaders, operations teams, and functional stakeholders to align projects with business needs.
  • Provide executive reporting, portfolio dashboards, KPI updates, and risk assessments to support decision-making and governance.

Standards, Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for construction standards, governance, and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, financial controls, regulatory requirements, environmental standards, and safety protocols.
  • Lead lessons learned initiatives and drive adoption of modern construction technologies, tools, and delivery methodologies.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate across EHS, IT, Security, Finance, Legal, Procurement, Supply Chain, and business leadership teams.
  • Drive alignment across a global matrix organization to successfully deliver enterprise-wide capital initiatives.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in capital projects, construction management, and real estate development.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience leading large-scale industrial, manufacturing, or mission-critical facility construction projects.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
  • MBA, Master's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience leading global construction program management teams and projects.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex capital planning and construction programs from concept through completion.
  • Experience operating within a global, matrixed organization and managing cross-functional and multi-site project portfolios.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, CCM, PE, or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of construction delivery methods, contracts, building systems, codes, permitting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience leveraging modern construction technologies, including BIM, enterprise project management platforms, and digital reporting tools.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and executive influencing skills.
  • Strategic mindset with a proven ability to balance long-term business objectives with executional excellence.
