Director, Maritime Profit & Loss (P&L) Position Summary Marathon TS is seeking a highly accomplished Director of Profit & Loss (P&L) to lead and grow its clients Maritime and Power Systems Portfolio, with responsibility for delivering operational excellence, strategic growth, and financial performance across a diverse portfolio of programs supporting the U.S. Government. The Maritime and Power System Portfolio encompasses both early design and prototype contracts along with low rate production contracts focused on modernizing maritime power systems. A strong background in the entire product lifecycle and startup environment is key to success. The role combines hands-on program execution with customer engagement, business development, and capture strategy balancing the demands of mature sustainment contracts, cutting-edge research initiatives, and emerging technology delivery within a single, high-visibility portfolio. Key Responsibilities
- Own full P&L responsibility for the Maritime and Power Systems portfolio, including revenue growth, profitability, forecasting, budgeting, and operational performance.
- Develop and execute a strategic growth plan that expands Marathons clients position within the Maritime and Power Systems market.
- Lead a portfolio of programs focused on controls and power systems integration developing and producing electro-mechanical systems for complex maritime shipboard control systems, remote inspection, maintenance and UUV propulsion.
- Build and maintain executive-level relationships with customers across the U.S. Navy, key naval vendors, and related allied governments and international defense organizations.
- Develop and execute, an aggressive business development/marketing campaign across the assigned market segment to grow business through new opportunities and expand business within current programs.
- Develop strategic plans to achieve established division/portfolio goals; and improve performance in the marketplace.
- In collaboration with programmatic subject matter experts, develop repeatable solution-based program management best practices and process.
- Develop, coach, and retain high-performance teams, empowering them to elevate their level of responsibility, span of control, and performance.
- Manage existing teaming partnerships (prime and subcontractor) and develop future teaming partnerships.
- Monitor cost, schedule, and performance.
- In addition to championing growth, successful candidate will lead, organize, and develop best practices for managing rapid RFI and RFP opportunities successfully.
- Oversee prototype and production program execution to ensure exceptional customer satisfaction, technical performance, schedule adherence, and financial results.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams across program management, engineering, operations, contracts, finance, and business development.
- Ensure compliance with all government contracting regulations, security requirements, and company policies
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Military Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience managing defense and/or homeland security portfolios.
- Demonstrated success managing a $50M+ government services or technology portfolio with direct P&L accountability.
- Demonstrated entreprenurial experience supporting the U.S. Navy and other major Navy vendors.
- Proven track record growing business through successful capture and execution of large federal contracts.
- Strong understanding of maritime and power systems design, development and production areas.
- Demonstrated executive leadership in complex government contracting environments.
- Experience managing geographically dispersed teams and multiple program managers.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and executive presentation skills.
- Clearable up to the TS/SCI level.
- Based out of Massachussetts.
- Travel up 40-50%.
- Existing relationships with Capability Program Executives (CPEs), Army Futures Command, Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM), Client components (CBP, USCG), USSOCOM, USAF Security Forces Center/AFLCMC, Army Research Laboratory (ARL), and the Joint Staff.
- Experience integrating emerging technologies including AI-enabled sensing, autonomous systems, robotics, electronic warfare, and advanced analytics into operational solutions.
