Director, Strategic Business Development, Digital Assets

Overview:

At Mastercard, we're redefining the future of payments-and the way people and businesses interact with digital payments. As Director, Strategic Business Development, Digital Assets, you will play a key role in supporting Mastercard's growth in crypto, Web3, and digital assets. Reporting into the Vice President of Global Strategic Business Development, you'll help identify, structure, and manage partnerships that expand our footprint in this fast-evolving space.

You'll collaborate closely with senior leaders and cross-functional partners to execute on new opportunities, strengthen relationships with key players in the ecosystem, and bring Mastercard's digital asset strategy to life through well-structured deals and go-to-market execution.

Role:

In this client-facing position, you will

  • Drive global business development in the digital assets and blockchain space
  • Manage all global account management tasks in line with Mastercard best practices and ensure that we successfully deliver on our strategy, achieve our commercial targets and are a strategic partner leading crypto and blockchain native companies around the world
  • Drive relevant product innovation based on the feedback we receive from our customers
  • Further embed Mastercard in the global crypto and blockchain industry by establishing relationships with exchanges, wallets, layer 1, onramps and similar relevant entities
  • Onboard and train new team members in BD and AM capabilities and help them grow into role and manage accounts in line with Mastercard standards
  • Deliver on Mastercard acquiring and issuing revenue targes and product targets, driven by the digital assets and blockchain segment
  • Partner with key global, regional and market-based stakeholders (Finance, Franchise, LFI, Marketing, Coms as well as regional and market-based teams) to drive business and ensure that Mastercard proactively shapes the future of the digital economy
  • Review and expand our target segments, based on new opportunities and new products launches

All About You:

The ideal candidate for this position:

  • Has experience in business development and account management
  • Relevant experience in the blockchain and crypto eco system with an extensive network of contacts
  • Comfortable working within a fast paced, ambiguous and highly innovative environment
  • Build close partnerships with clients, uncover their needs, and recommend complementary products or services that help the customer
  • Be a strong, confident, and skillful writer and speaker, able to communicate your vision and roadmap effectively to a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Has experience in presenting and communicating with executive management
  • Brings a strong work ethic with high sense of urgency and ownership
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to manage ambiguity and move initiatives forward.
  • Has experience in managing escalations
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Technology, Engineering

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more.
