Director of Accounting – Job Description
A growing non-profit organization is seeking a Director of Accounting to lead financial operations and serve as a key liaison to senior leadership and the board on all accounting and financial matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the full accounting function, including supervision of accounts payable staff
- Act as the primary point of contact for financial reporting and present insights to leadership and the board
- Manage multi-entity and intercompany accounting across a complex organizational structure with multiple P&Ls
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
- Maintain and improve internal controls, policies, and procedures in compliance with non-profit standards
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis efforts
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA preferred)
- Experience in non-profit accounting or public accounting with non-profit clients
- Strong background in multi-entity and intercompany accounting
- Proven leadership experience and ability to manage staff
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with executive leadership and board members
