Summary:
Our award-winning client is seeking a Director of Advanced Engineering (MIM/PM Materials) to join their team. This executive role drives the transformation of emerging materials and manufacturing advancements into qualified, scalable, and commercially successful production solutions.
Serving key markets including defense, aerospace, automotive, medical, firearms, and industrial sectors, the Director develops and executes a forward-looking, business-aligned technology roadmap that accelerates product commercialization, strengthens technical differentiation, improves margins, and positions the organization as a preferred engineering partner for complex, high-reliability components.
Responsibilities:
Lead enterprise-wide advanced engineering initiatives across MIM, binder jet additive manufacturing, powder metallurgy, and hybrid CNC technologies.
Translate emerging materials science and manufacturing innovations into validated, production-ready solutions.
Develop and execute a strategic technology roadmap aligned with business growth objectives.
Drive process optimization, scalability, and cost-efficiency initiatives to enhance profitability.
Partner cross-functionally with operations, quality, sales, and executive leadership to align engineering capabilities with market needs.
Oversee the qualification and commercialization of new materials and processes.
Support business development efforts through technical expertise and customer engagement.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements for high-reliability applications.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or related technical discipline (advanced degree preferred).
Progressive leadership experience in engineering within metal injection molding (MIM) and powder metallurgy manufacturing environments.
Strong technical background in materials development, metallurgical processes, and advanced manufacturing technologies.
Proven experience leading engineering teams in high-precision, multi-industry component manufacturing.
Demonstrated ability to align engineering strategy with business objectives and commercial outcomes.
Experience serving regulated or high-reliability industries such as defense, aerospace, medical, or automotive preferred.

Lead and develop a multidisciplinary advanced engineering team, including:
MIM Process Engineers
Metallurgists
Materials Development Engineers
Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and technical excellence.
Establish performance metrics and structured development processes to drive continuous improvement.
