The Director of Billing will lead firm-wide billing operations, including e-billing, ensuring accuracy, compliance with billing guidelines, and efficiency in invoicing. S/he will identify opportunities to modernize technology, drive automation, and streamline/standardize processes and will work with the Managing Director of Billing & Collections to prioritize and implement those initiatives. This person will ensure that supporting documentation is updated as needed, including billing policies, standard operating procedures, and other relevant training materials. The Director of Billing must be a seasoned people leader, accustomed to leading large teams, and will be responsible for recruiting, retaining, coaching and developing high caliber staff. S/he will serve as the liaison between internal billing staff, partners and/or clients to resolve issues.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead and inspire a large, geographically distributed team. Lead recruiting for open roles, assess capabilities of existing staff, coach and mentor employees as needed to help them excel. Ensure newly hired staff receive the appropriate training to perform their roles. Provide hands on supervision as needed.

  • Manage all billing and e-billing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency. Ensure compliance with client billing guidelines.

  •  Implement and optimize billing policies, procedures, and workflows to reduce errors. Proactively identify opportunities to streamline processes and drive towards standardized processes wherever possible. Improve e-billing procedures to stem revenue leakage.

  • Work with partners and/or secretaries to address billing issues and improve partner and client satisfaction.

  • Partner closely with MD of Billing & Collections and Director of Collections to help the firm achieve or exceed its revenue goals.

  • Identify opportunities to uplift technology and automate processes. 

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent.

  • 10-15 years of billing experience in a professional service organization; law firm experience preferred.

  • Advanced knowledge of systems including Aderant Expert, ARCS 2G, Billblast, Billstream, ODDR and various electronic billing platforms.

  • Seasoned people leader, with experience leading large, geographically dispersed teams. Demonstrated experience in professionalizing and upskilling talent.

  • Proactive problem solver with excellent analytical skills.

  • Exceptional organizational and process management skills.

  • Skilled communicator with excellent customer service skills.

  • Strong collaborator with exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to influence peers and colleagues.

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments while working in high stress situations.

  • Must thrive in a rapid-paced and dynamic business environment with a willingness to travel as necessary.

  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

This position is eligible for overtime: NoThe Target Salary Range For This Position Varies By Location And Is Commensurate With Relevant Experience: $200,000.00 - $250,000.00
