Director of Chatham Music and Arts Daycamp

Chatham University Music and Arts Day Camp requires a dynamic and experienced Day Camp Director to lead our summer camp program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children, strong organizational skills, and the ability to create a fun and safe environment for campers. The Camp Director will oversee all aspects of the camp, including planning activities, managing staff, and ensuring the well-being of campers

Duties and Responsibilities include:

Camp Planning and Management:

  • Oversee and coordinate camp communications strategy, including timely response to email and phone inquiries and efforts to improve marketing.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive camp program, including daily activities and special events.
  • Recruit, hire, and train camp staff.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the camp, including scheduling, staffing, and budget management.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and licensing requirements.

Camp Leadership and Supervision:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the camp staff.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive camp culture.
  • Resolve conflicts and address disciplinary issues.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, campers, and staff.

Program Implementation:

  • Plan and implement engaging and age-appropriate activities.
  • Supervise campers during activities to ensure safety and participation.
  • Adapt activities to meet the needs of all campers, including those with special needs.
  • Serve as the camp’s central liaison for interfacing with Chatham personnel.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in education, recreation, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with children in a camp or childcare setting.
  • Experience working in a leadership position is preferred
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Passion for working with children and creating memorable camp experiences

Salary Range: 

$35.00/hour 40-hour work week.
