This role combines technical accounting, commodity P&L oversight, regulatory compliance, and process improvement. The position requires deep experience in grain or agricultural commodity accounting, including licensing, bonding, and mark-to-market valuation.This is a newly created role with significant autonomy and the opportunity to build scalable accounting processes as the business grows.Key ResponsibilitiesCommodity Accounting & CloseOwn month-end and year-end financial close for commodity operationsLead commodity P&L reporting and analysis across products and regionsReview and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analysesEnsure contracts, pricing, and commodity positions are accurately recorded for closeRegulatory & ComplianceMaintain grain buyer licenses across operating statesManage bonding requirements, renewals, and reportingCoordinate state grain audits and regulatory reportingEnsure compliance with multi-state agricultural regulationsFinancial Reporting & AuditSupport annual financial audits and prepare required schedulesPrepare regulatory filings and other required financial reportsStrengthen internal controls and accounting processesProcess & Systems ImprovementAssess commodity accounting workflows and implement improvementsEstablish scalable procedures to support growthPartner with merchandising and operations teams on financial insightsRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field3+ years commodity or agricultural accounting experience (5+ preferred)Strong knowledge of GAAP and commodity accounting principlesExperience with commodity P&L, contracts, and pricing mechanicsKnowledge of grain licensing, bonding, and regulatory requirementsExperience leading financial close and audit supportProficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systemsStrong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple prioritiesPreferred BackgroundGrain merchandising, cooperative, or agricultural trading environmentMark-to-market valuation and hedging accountingMulti-state agricultural operationsInterested in hearing more?
