Are you excited about shaping the conversation around AI, innovation, and the future of the legal profession?

Do you thrive on transforming complex technology stories into compelling narratives that influence customers, media, and industry perception?

About our Team

LexisNexis Legal & Professional, which serves customers in more than 150 countries with 11,800 employees worldwide, is part of RELX (http://www.relx.com), a global provider of information-based analytics and decision tools for professional and business customers. Our company has been a long-time leader in deploying AI and advanced technologies to the legal market to improve productivity and transform the overall business and practice of law, deploying ethical and powerful generative AI solutions with a flexible, multi-model approach that prioritizes using the best model from today's top model creators for each individual legal use case. The company employs over 2,000 technologists, data scientists, and experts to develop, test, and validate solutions in line with RELX Responsible AI Principles (https://stories.relx.com/responsible-ai-principles/index.html).

About the Role

As Director of Communications at LexisNexis Legal & Professional, you will help shape and drive our global corporate, AI, and technology leadership narrative.

In this senior, highly visible role, you will combine excellent judgment with exceptional execution. You will move comfortably between providing strategic counsel, leading high-profile communications, and managing the detailed operational work needed to deliver consistently. Drawing on your extensive global corporate communications experience, you will develop communications strategies, advise senior executives, identify reputational opportunities and risks, work with reporters, draft press releases and corporate messaging, and personally handle employee communications under tight deadlines.

You will strengthen LexisNexis's position as a global leader in legal AI and technology by developing compelling narratives, identifying news and thought leadership opportunities, and maintaining a consistent flow of high-quality communications. You will be proactive, highly independent, precise, and relentlessly focused on results. You will also build strong relationships across the business, connect ideas, identify stories early, and turn them into meaningful communications opportunities.

As an AI-native communications professional, you will use AI to improve the quality, speed, and scale of your work. This includes research, content development and review, information synthesis, and the creation of agents, skills, and other AI-enabled processes.

You will report to the VP, Communications and Global PR for LexisNexis Legal & Professional and work closely with the CEO of LexisNexis Legal and senior leaders across Product, Technology, Marketing, and Communications globally.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute corporate communications strategies that strengthen LexisNexis's reputation and advance business priorities.
  • Shape and drive the company's external narrative around AI, technology, innovation and product leadership, with a focus on customer outcomes.
  • Lead media strategy for major company announcements, product launches, partnerships, acquisitions, research, executive thought leadership and industry events.
  • Create and manage a disciplined communications and content calendar focused on sustaining the company's leadership position in AI, technology and legal innovation.
  • Lead internal communications for LexisNexis Legal, connecting employees to business strategy, priorities and company direction.
  • Lead the strategy, planning and execution of global employee town halls, including agenda development, CEO remarks and scripts, speaker coordination and presentation content.
  • Use AI as an integral part of daily communications work, including research, drafting, editing, content review, analysis and planning.
  • Operate as a senior communications leader who can independently lead complex initiatives with limited supervision.
  • Build strong relationships throughout a large, matrixed global organization and develop the internal network necessary to understand the business deeply.
  • Prioritize competing requests based on business importance, reputational impact, audience value, and communications opportunity.
  • Manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously against aggressive deadlines without losing attention to detail.

What Success Looks Like

The successful Director will:

  • Create a sustained external drumbeat that reinforces LexisNexis leadership in AI and technology.
  • Proactively uncover communications opportunities and turn complex developments into clear, differentiated stories.
  • Independently lead major communications initiatives from strategy through execution.
  • Produce high-quality communications quickly, accurately, and consistently.
  • Earn the trust of senior executives as a strategic advisor.
  • Build deep relationships across the organization to identify opportunities, risks, and emerging issues early.
  • Use AI in sophisticated, practical ways to improve communications quality, speed, scale, and impact.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive corporate communications and public relations experience, preferably in technology, AI, information services, professional services, or another complex global business.
  • Significant experience leading corporate, technology, and product communications programs.
  • Proven ability to independently lead complex PR initiatives from strategy and messaging through content development, media execution, and measurement.
  • Strong experience communicating AI, emerging technology, and other complex subject matter in clear, compelling, customer-focused ways.
  • Advanced practical experience using generative AI in professional communications work; experience with AI agents, skills, automations, or AI-enabled processes strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and message-development skills, with the ability to produce high-quality work quickly and accurately.
  • Extensive experience advising C-suite and senior executives.
  • Strong media relationships and a deep understanding of what makes a compelling story.
  • Demonstrated judgment managing sensitive corporate and reputational issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a large, highly matrixed global organization.
  • Experience leading teams, agencies, and complex cross-functional projects.
  • Ability to prioritize independently, make sound decisions under pressure, and deliver against aggressive deadlines.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, English, or a related field.
