Greenville University is committed to the safety and security of the campus, students and employees in whom we serve. Greenville University is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as the Director of Community Standards and Safety.

Requirements

  • Leadership and management of the Department of Campus Safety, a 24/7/365 operation; including, hiring, training, direction and supervision.
  • Serves as the Student Affairs designee, leading and managing all undergraduate and graduate student conduct functions
  • Developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with students, faculty, staff and visitors.
  • Compliance with local, state and federal crime reporting mandates (including but not limited to, Clery report and Fire & Safety report).
  • Collaboration with local officials to address matters of mutual concern
  • Development and administration of department budget
  • Development and regular review of campus safety policies, procedures and training
  • Serve as a resource for Emergency Response Management and Safety Team
  • Coordinate crisis plan and update it regularly
  • Coordinate safety and parking for major events on campus
  • Provide regular education to campus education about safety
  • Provide ongoing campus safety training to Director of Residence Life and Residence Life staff
  • Advises leadership on legal and policy developments and issues, including compliance with legislative, professional and university regulations including Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and Clery Act
  • Works with campus partners to monitor compliance concerns related to Title IX, Clery Act and Violence Against Women Act (VAWA)
  • Serves as chair of the community standards hearing officer Meeting Oversees management of all undergraduate and graduate discipline files and data, including management of and training for the case management database; prepares regular reports of key statistics and identifies trends
  • Oversees the administration of effective and timely case management, including attending pre-hearing meetings and hearings and communicating with accused students, complainants, witnesses and parents
  • Assures consistent and timely attention to all discipline referrals via appropriate student conduct processes
  • Collaborates with the Student Counseling and Resource Center to manage sanctions associated with alcohol and drug violations, as well as anger management
  • Compliance with local, state and federal crime reporting mandates (including but not limited to, Clery report and Fire & Safety report).
  • Manages annual policy review of student conduct processes, procedures and programs and oversees development and revisions, including solicitation and implementation of input from university community
  • Manages and coordinates investigative follow-up on student conduct matters with Campus Safety and Housing and Residence Life
  • Develop and ensure procedures for building securement including, locking and unlocking campus buildings, emergency management procedures and report any faulty or unsafe areas of concern.
  • Coordinate and oversee security cameras across campus, campus parking procedures, parking permits, IDs and electronic access requests with office personnel.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of criminal justice, law enforcement and higher education policies/procedures
  • Knowledge of student development theory, particularly in the areas of moral development theory and models of student conduct
  • Committing to a restorative and educational approach to student conduct as valued by Greenville University
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with internal and external entities
  • Understanding of current student issues and brings solution orientated ideas forward
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing under stressful conditions.
  • Understands and has depth of knowledge regarding compliance requirements for local, state, federal laws, including higher education procedures
  • Intermediate to proficient use of Microsoft Office programs, Maxient and Onguard

  • Serves as a back up to on-call number through use of cellphone that must be on person at all times.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required with a degree in Higher Education, Conflict Management, Criminal Justice, or related fields preferred
  • Training in emergency management preferred, including CPR, First Aid and AED certification
  • Professional career background in safety, law enforcement, student development, student conduct or a related field is preferred.
  • Satisfactory results from background check (state and federal)

Salary Band: $45,000-$65,000/Annually. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions and department budget.
