Job Overview

The Director Compliance is responsible for overseeing and managing the organization’s compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.  This role plays a crucial part in ensuring that the company operates within legal and ethical boundaries, reducing risks, and upholding its reputation.

What You’ll Do

  • Maintain knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations as well as industry best practices to provide subject matter expertise and identify emerging risks

  • Serve as compliance representative on Change Committee

  • Oversee the Company’s Compliance Management Program to ensure that it is reasonably designed to prevent and detect compliance issues

  • Develop, maintain and enforce compliance policies and procedures

  • Respond to consumer complaints submitted through regulators; track, analyze, and report on consumer complaints

  • Manage the Compliance Training Program

  • Manage the regulatory change management process, which includes the identification, evaluation, and implementation of new or amended rules/regulations

  • Oversee the management of Company, Individual, and Branch Licensing (NMLS) including any required Surety Bonds

  • Manage compliance related escalations 

  • Manage state/regulatory examinations or inquiries

  • Oversee the preparation and submission of regulatory reports and filings to ensure timeliness and alignment with compliance requirements including state annual reports, HMDA LAR, MCR, NV MAR, NCCOB

  • Investigate loan level compliance violations/concerns reported through internal channels or due diligence and develop and implement corrective action plans and resolutions 

  • Provide the line of business with assistance in assessing, responding, and remediating Internal Audit observations/findings related to compliance requirements

  • Research and opine on compliance considerations and risks related to the implementation of new products or services

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Law, Compliance), JD preferred

  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant laws and industry related regulations

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with regulators

Preferred

  • Experience with loan origination and compliance monitoring tools (e.g., Encompass, Mavent)

  • Legal background or juris doctor (J.D.) degree
