Job Description
WHAT YOU’LL DO
The Director of Compliance leads Rio Las Vegas’ compliance program, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local gaming regulations, including BSA/AML Title 31. The role oversees internal control systems and gaming technology approvals, interprets regulations, audits operations, and manages risk related to casino activities.
ROLE EXPECTATIONS
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Lead the design and execution of Rio Las Vegas’ compliance and legal risk strategy across all properties and jurisdictions.
Oversee compliance with Nevada Gaming Control Board regulations, BSA/AML Title 31, and hospitality industry standards.
Manage the submission and approval of internal control systems, gaming equipment, and technology platforms with regulatory bodies.
Serve as the primary liaison with state and federal gaming commissions, ensuring timely and accurate legal filings.
Collaborate with internal and external legal counsel on regulatory matters, investigations, and litigation risk.
Monitor and interpret changes in gaming laws, hospitality regulations, and corporate governance requirements, ensuring proactive compliance.
Lead internal audits and investigations related to regulatory breaches or legal concerns.
Provide legal guidance on contracts, licensing, acquisitions, and operational compliance.
Develop and deliver training programs on legal and regulatory compliance for property-level leadership and staff.
Ensure property-wide compliance with CTR and SAR reporting requirements.
Lead and manage the compliance team in matters related to BSA/AML Title 31 and regulatory compliance.
Serve as the primary liaison with local and federal law enforcement agencies during investigations
Serve as the primary contact for all compliance and AML matters for all Rio team members.
Serve as the primary contact for banking partners in AML & Compliance matters.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in law, Business Administration, or Accounting required or equivalent experience.
Minimum 7 years of experience in gaming law, regulatory compliance, or corporate legal affairs, with multi-jurisdictional exposure.
Deep understanding of casino operations, hospitality law, and regulatory framework in Nevada.
Knowledge of BSA/AML Title 31 and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) requirements
Proven ability to manage complex legal and compliance issues in a dynamic, high-stakes environment.
Strong legal acumen with the ability to interpret and apply gaming and hospitality laws effectively.
Experience in conducting risk assessments
Experience in conducting complex investigations and enhanced due diligence on individuals and entities
Experience working with regulators, law enforcement, and legal teams in high-profile compliance matters.
Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
Ability to foster a culture of integrity, transparency, and accountability.
At least 21 years of age.
PREFERRED
Juris Doctor (JD) or advanced legal degree preferred
Professional certifications such as CAMS, CFE, CIA, or CISA are highly desirable.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, gaming and local regulations.
Must be able to work under time constraints and within established deadlines.
Must regularly lift and/move up to 10 pounds, and must have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment and exposed to various environmental factors such as but not limited to noise, dust and smoke.
This is not a remote position and requires someone on property daily.
