JOB DESCRIPTION

A well-established structural steel fabricator and erector is seeking an experienced Director of Construction to join their leadership team. This is an outstanding opportunity to oversee construction operations for a respected contractor known for delivering complex commercial and industrial structural steel projects.

This organization is seeking a proven construction leader who can oversee project execution, mentor project teams, and ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead all construction operations, project management, and field execution

  • Oversee multiple structural steel erection projects from preconstruction through closeout

  • Manage project schedules, budgets, staffing, forecasting, and profitability

  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, contract, and customer requirements

  • Coordinate project execution between estimating, detailing, fabrication, and field operations

  • Review constructability, erection sequencing, crane plans, and project logistics

  • Develop and maintain relationships with owners, general contractors, engineers, and trade partners

  • Resolve project, scheduling, engineering, and field challenges

  • Implement quality control procedures and operational best practices

  • Monitor KPIs related to schedule, profitability, quality, and customer satisfaction

  • Drive process improvements and leverage technologies such as BIM, Tekla, and Procore

  • Mentor and develop Project Managers, Superintendents, and future leaders

  • Report operational performance to executive leadership

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred

  • 10+ years of construction management experience with at least 5 years leading structural steel operations

  • Proven success managing large commercial and industrial structural steel projects

  • Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication, erection methods, welding, bolting, and project sequencing

  • Experience managing budgets, schedules, contracts, and multi-disciplinary teams

  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry standards

  • Proficiency with Procore, Primavera, Microsoft Project, Tekla, BIM, or similar software

  • Excellent leadership, communication, financial, and organizational skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience overseeing multiple concurrent projects

  • Background integrating detailing, fabrication, and field operations

  • Demonstrated success developing high-performing project teams

  • Experience implementing operational improvements and standardized processes
