Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations

Description of Position

This position is a twelve-month, exempt position and reports to the Vice President for External Relations. The primary purpose of this position is to raise funds for NNU through corporate and foundation contributions. The director is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospective and current corporate and foundation major gift donors and sponsors who require complex written submissions and oversight, as well as consistent relationship building. This position is part of the Office of University Advancement which functions as a part of the External Relations Team.

Essential Functions:

The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:

  • In collaboration with the Vice President for External Relations, develops and executes a yearly strategy with measurable outcomes for seeking grant funding from corporations and foundations in support of the mission of NNU.
  • Demonstrates ability to research, monitor, and administer grant activities, including compliance and outcome reporting, using a grants management platform.
  • Completes the drafting of all grant requests, progress reports and prepare all supporting documentation for corporate and foundation requests in compliance with fundraising and university policies
  • Provides stewardship to corporate and foundation donors by providing regular written updates highlighting the positive results of their giving, as well as meeting in person as appropriate.
  • In collaboration with Marketing, creates solicitation and publication materials focused on corporate and foundation relations.
  • In collaboration with Marketing, oversees and updates the portion of the NNU website focused on corporate and foundation relations.
  • Updates, directs, and strategizes with the Vice President for External Relations as to which current and new corporate and foundation partners require connection with one or more of the Senior Leadership Team members.
  • Stewards, cultivates relationships, and solicits gifts from a small portfolio of individual donors not connected to corporations and/or foundations.
  • Plans and executes all details of NNU's Community Fair in conjunction with Student Life activities during orientation week.
  • Collaborates with and assists team members in the Office of University Advancement in the development of various advancement initiatives, proposals, and events.
  • Engages in and attends a variety of community events and events hosted by the Office of University Advancement.
  • Performs other areas as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years' experience or equivalent
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven excellent customer service and interpersonal attributes
  • Strong ability to follow through, organize responsibilities and meet deadlines
  • High motivation to set and achieve challenging goals; self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • A commitment to use information resources ethically and to honor standards of confidentiality in working with constituent and institutional information
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time and occasionally work nights and weekends
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Computer competency with knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word and Excel, internet search engines, and ability to utilize technology platforms to research and analyze areas
  • Familiarity with current trends and best practices in the advancement field
  • The University requires that all candidates be Christians (preferably in the Wesleyan tradition), and must be comfortable with, in agreement with the mission and lifestyle values of NNU

Compensation

The salary will be determined by the educational background and experience of each applicant. Full-time personnel will be offered access to a benefits package including health, vision and dental insurance for employee and family, life and long-term disability insurance, flexible spending plan, tuition benefits, opportunities for professional development, and a retirement program.
