Director of Engineering / Chief Engineer
Location: Miami Beach, FL
Job Type: Full-Time | Exempt
About the Role
A luxury beachfront hotel in Miami Beach is seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to oversee all engineering operations, maintenance programs, building systems, and facility appearance. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for maintaining a safe, efficient, and well-maintained property while leading a team of engineering professionals.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee the operation and maintenance of all hotel equipment, systems, and facilities.• Manage preventive maintenance programs, inspections, work orders, and daily engineering operations.• Supervise, train, coach, and evaluate engineering team members.• Ensure compliance with OSHA, fire safety, and health regulations.• Coordinate vendors, contractors, and capital improvement projects.• Oversee maintenance of guest rooms, public areas, meeting rooms, landscaping, and pool facilities.• Support energy conservation and sustainability initiatives.• Partner with hotel leadership to ensure exceptional guest satisfaction and operational excellence.
Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of hotel engineering or building maintenance experience with supervisory responsibilities.• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems.• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.• Strong leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills.• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.• Hospitality industry experience strongly preferred.• Bilingual abilities are a plus.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand for extended periods.• Ability to lift, carry, or push up to 80 lbs.• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights when necessary.• Ability to work in varying environmental conditions.
