Job Description

Department: FinanceReports To: Executive Leadership
Summary of Position
The Director of Finance and Accounting is responsible for overseeing the organization’s accounting and financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all financial processes. This role performs and oversees key accounting functions, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting, while maintaining a strong understanding of the general ledger structure and ERP system.
The Director partners closely with leadership to enhance financial procedures, identify opportunities to improve financial performance, support cost accounting initiatives, and align financial strategy with company-wide goals. This role also provides leadership, guidance, and training to the finance team, fosters a positive and collaborative work environment, and upholds the company’s core values.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete financial records in accordance with GAAP.
  • Oversee and expedite the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements and management reports.
  • Maintain and oversee the general ledger structure and ERP system functionality.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and department managers on budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting analyses.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial performance and provide actionable insights to leadership.
  • Monitor and analyze work orders for job costing and price comparisons.
  • Oversee, mentor, and develop accounting and finance staff.
  • Allocate and prioritize workload to ensure deadlines and business needs are met.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on accounting procedures, systems, and best practices.
  • Support audits and serve as a key point of contact for external auditors and financial partners.
  • Establish credibility across the organization through professionalism, transparency, and collaboration.
  • Foster a positive, ethical, and accountable work environment aligned with company values.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, required.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
  • Prior leadership or people-management experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Compensation Range: $180,000 – $220,000This position is eligible for additional compensation and benefits in accordance with company plans and policies.
