Job Description

Space is a warfighting domain. True Anomaly seeks those with the talent and ambition to build the technology that secures it.

OUR MISSION

True Anomaly delivers decisive capabilities for space superiority. We build autonomous spacecraft, advanced payloads, mission software, and space-based interceptors - enabling the U.S. and its Allies to secure the space environment and counter threats from the ultimate high ground.

OUR VALUES

  • Be the offset. We create asymmetric advantages with creativity and ingenuity.
  • What would it take? We challenge assumptions to deliver ambitious results.
  • It's the people. Our team is our competitive advantage and we are better together.

Your Mission

As the Director of Finance at True Anomaly, you will build and lead the finance function across both FP&A and Program Finance - owning the company's planning and forecasting agenda while overseeing program controls through a team of strong program finance managers. This is a builder's role for someone with the technical depth to earn credibility across a defense portfolio and the strategic range to operate as a true business finance leader.

Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Own the company's annual operating plan and quarterly forecasting, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and alignment with strategic objectives
  • Serve as a trusted financial partner to the executive leadership team; develop and deliver board-level financial reporting and analysis
  • Build and maintain financial models that support strategic decision-making, scenario planning, and investment prioritization
  • Develop and manage indirect rate structures, overhead budgets, and cost allocation frameworks in compliance with FAR/CAS requirements
  • Partner with Business Development on pricing strategy and proposal economics, ensuring financial assumptions are grounded in cost reality and positioned to win
  • Support the development of pricing strategies for government and commercial proposals, including basis of estimates, rate development, and cost narrative

Program Finance & Controls

  • Oversee the Program Finance function through a team of program finance managers and analysts embedded across True Anomaly's product portfolios
  • Own the quarterly EAC process for all customer-funded programs in accordance with ASC 606 revenue recognition principles
  • Ensure program compliance and partner with Accounting and PMO to ensure readiness for customer and government surveillance audits (DCMA, GAO)
  • Prepare and own IRAD budgets, program cost analysis, and reporting
  • Own preparation and delivery of cost and schedule reporting (CPR, ADRLs, CDRLs) for external customers; represent True Anomaly in customer-facing financial interactions
  • Collaborate with PMO on risk and opportunity register, ensuring risks are identified, quantified, and mitigated

Team & Function Building

  • Lead, grow, and develop a team of program finance managers, analysts, and FP&A professionals, building bench strength and a culture of rigor, ownership, and continuous improvement
  • Establish and scale finance policies, processes, and systems that serve both program execution and enterprise financial management
  • Evaluate existing systems and drive implementation of new ones across ERP, EPM, and program management tooling to build a cohesive finance infrastructure
  • Champion the use of AI and automation tools across the finance function, identifying opportunities to eliminate manual work, accelerate reporting cycles, and free the team to focus on higher-value analysis and decision support

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of finance experience in aerospace or defense, with a background that spans both program controls and broader FP&A or business finance leadership
  • Demonstrated experience building and leading finance teams; track record of developing managers and analysts
  • Deep understanding of program finance fundamentals- EAC methodology, EVMS, ASC 606, FAR/DFARS, CAS, and government financial reporting requirements (CPR, IPMR)
  • Strong FP&A skillset including financial modeling, annual operating plans, long-range planning, and executive-level reporting
  • Experience supporting pricing and BD efforts on government proposals, including indirect rate development and basis of estimates
  • Proven ability to build scalable processes and systems in a fast-moving, resource-constrained environment
  • Clear and effective communicator across program teams, executive leadership, and government customers
  • Comfort leveraging AI and automation tools to drive efficiency, reduce manual reporting burden, and scale the finance function without scaling headcount proportionally
  • Experience at a high-growth startup strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $180,000 - $250,000
  • Equity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO, and paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave

Additional Requirements

  • Work Location- We observe an in-person work environment, and expect 4 days per week in office at the Company's Denver, CO headquarters or at our facility in Long Beach, California
  • Security Clearance- Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance required
