You will have the opportunity to deliver massive impact at a hypergrowth company that is funded by some of the top investors in fintech, crypto, and SaaS, including Sapphire Ventures, Norwest, Galaxy Ventures, Lightspeed, Khosla, and several more. If you’re curious, bold, and excited to help shape a borderless financial future, we’d love to talk.

We believe in an open and flat structure. You will be able to grow into the role that most aligns with your goals. Our team members at all levels have the freedom to explore ideas and impact the roadmap and vision of our company.

About the Team

Rain is building the infrastructure that connects modern digital money with the global card networks and financial system. As the first government relations hire, you will sit at the intersection of product, legal, compliance, and leadership to help shape the regulatory and policy environment that enables our technology to scale responsibly. You’ll work closely with executives, industry partners, and policymakers to ensure Rain is a trusted voice in conversations about payments innovation, fintech, and stablecoin-enabled financial infrastructure. This is a unique opportunity to build the government relations function from the ground up and influence how next-generation payments are understood and regulated.

What you’ll do

  • Build and lead Rain’s government relations strategy across the U.S., helping shape policy that affects digital payments, stablecoins, and card-based financial infrastructure

  • Establish and manage relationships with policymakers, regulators, industry groups, and key stakeholders across federal and state governments

  • Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments related to payments, fintech, digital assets, and financial services

  • Partner closely with legal, compliance, and executive leadership to assess policy risks and opportunities that impact Rain’s products and expansion

  • Represent Rain in industry associations, working groups, and policy forums to help shape the conversation around modern payments infrastructure

  • Develop clear policy positions and external messaging that explain Rain’s technology and its role in the financial ecosystem

  • Advise internal teams on regulatory strategy as Rain expands into new markets, products, and partnerships

  • Help build a long-term government relations function and strategy that scales with Rain’s growth globally

You are likely to succeed if you have:

  • 12+ years of experience in government relations, public policy, or regulatory affairs related to financial services, payments, fintech, or digital assets

  • Experience engaging with U.S. regulators and policymakers on financial regulation, including agencies such as Treasury, the Federal Reserve, OCC, CFPB, or relevant Congressional committees

  • Strong understanding of the payments ecosystem, including card issuing, acquiring, and emerging fintech infrastructure

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical or financial concepts into clear policy narratives

  • A strong network across policymakers, regulators, and industry stakeholders in financial services

  • Experience building strategy in fast-moving or highly regulated environments

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to operate independently and build a new function in a startup environment

Bonus attributes:

  • Experience working on policy related to stablecoins, digital assets, or blockchain infrastructure

  • Prior experience at a fintech, payments company, card network, or financial institution

  • Background working on Capitol Hill, in a federal regulatory agency, or in a policy-focused trade association

  • Experience engaging with international financial regulators or global policy bodies
