JOB OVERVIEW
The Director of HR and Administration, a position that is a member of the staff executive team, oversees all aspects of administration and human resources department. This includes payroll, compensation, benefits, personnel issues, compliance needs, reception and office management for and organization with 45-50 employees. This also includes strategic planning and implementation of all human resources programs and initiatives. This role builds and maintains organizational systems that support mission success and long‑term sustainability. Finally, this role is a key ambassador that helps to lead and sustain the organization-wide efforts currently underway to implement a more market-based culture.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
General
- Design and implement long and short term plans for the Administration and HR departments and the overall personnel and staffing needs of UWWC
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve internal administrative and human resource systems, processes, and policies
- Weekly communication with all staff to ensure transparency and open communication , as well as DEIA educational resources
- Actively participate as a member of the staff executive team, focusing on strategy and moving the overall organization towards its long-term goals
Payroll & Compensation
- Administer and update salary band system as needed to ensure compliance and pay equity within the organization
- Oversee and ensure accuracy of payroll, leave accrual, and salary allocation data entry
- Conduct biennial compensation analyses to determine competitive wage rate and agency wide equitable pay structure
Benefits
- Determine benefits needs and work with outside vendors to negotiate, implement and administer insurance programs; including medical, life, ad/d, dental, vision, COBRA, and flex spending accounts
- Act as plan administrator for 401k
Personnel Management
- Direct new employee on-boarding, orientation, Wayfinder program, termination meetings, an stay and exit interviews
- Oversee performance evaluation process to ensure effectiveness of program and equity within the organization
- Advise supervisors with employee performance protocols and documentation as needed
- Develops and interprets analytical benchmarks for hiring and retention planning
- Coordinate and/or provide training for interviewing, hiring, terminations, personnel management, performance evaluations, DEIA, and sexual harassment
Compliance
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
- Update and maintain employee handbook to uphold fair and equitable policies and ensure legal compliance
- Responds to employee inquiries regarding employee handbook procedures
Reception and Office Administration
- With assistance from reception, oversee day‑to‑day office operations, vendor relationships, and procurement
- Manage administrative workflows
- As needed, assist Chief Operating Officer with IT needs
- As needed, assist Chief Operating Officer with facilities management and maintenance
Supervisor Duties
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the HR department
- Directs the daily workflow of the department
United Way of Weld County General
- Support and promote the mission, values, goals and objectives of United Way, including representing United Way in professional organizations and the community (as assigned).
- Support fundraising efforts of United Way and activities that support United Way.
- Support United Way annual events, disaster response, and other activities as assigned.
- Participate in staff meetings and in service opportunities.
- Contribute to organizational promotions including writing promotional copy, proofreading informational and campaign materials, participation in outreach, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Able to navigate ADP, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and a variety of job listing, insurance and other large corporate websites

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience in HR and Administrative roles
- PHR, SHRM-CP, or Masters preferred
- Bilingual, Spanish-speaking preferred
- High computer literacy required: demonstrated ability with MS office including excel, Outlook, and Teams
- Knowledge of Human Resource and Payroll systems
POSITION INFORMATION
- Full time, salaried, exempt
- Salary Range (S6): $74,993-84,867
- Plus $1,500 annual Spanish speaking differential, if applicable
- Supervisory duties: 2 direct reports
- Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
- Eligible for remote work: yes, limited remote work after 90 days with supervisor approval
- Background & credit check required
