FULLY REMOTE - Director of HR Operations, Staffing Industry 810+ years staffing or multi-state workforce experience required Remote (U.S.) | Occasional travel for team events and leadership meetings. Our client is a rapidly growing staffing organization supporting a distributed, multi-state workforce. They are known for operational excellence and are investing heavily in building a best-in-class HR infrastructure powered by automation, compliance, and technology. Were hiring for a Director of HR Operations to lead and scale payroll compliance, HR systems, and regulatory programs across all 50 states.What you will do:
- Own and scale enterprise-wide multi-state payroll compliance and HR operations.
- Design and implement automated, audit-ready compliance workflows (UKG, Bullhorn).
- Build SOPs and scalable processes for onboarding, payroll, and compliance programs.
- Lead and develop an HR operations team (payroll, pre-employment, HR admin).
- Partner with Legal and Executive Leadership on compliance strategy and risk mitigation.
- Oversee HR investigations, claims processes, and employee relations protocols.
- Drive transition to UKG and optimize HR tech stack for automation and scalability.
- Ensure compliance across federal, state, and local employment laws.
- 810+ years of HR experience with deep focus on payroll and compliance.
- Strong experience in multi-state workforce environments (staffing preferred).
- Background in industries like travel nursing or distributed contractor workforce highly preferred.
- Proven success building scalable HR processes and compliance programs.
- Experience with HRIS/ATS systems (UKG, Bullhorn strongly preferred).
- Strong understanding of payroll regulations, wage & hour laws, and benefits compliance.
- Experience leading HR teams and cross-functional initiatives.
- Bachelors degree in HR, Business, or related field.
- $140K $160K base salary + OTE around $200K.
