Director of Information Technology & Health SystemsLocation: Near Newburgh, NYSalary Range: $125,000 – $150,000 annuallyEmployment Type: Full-TimeTravel: Approximately 35% regional travelLead Technology Innovation in a Mission-Driven Healthcare Environment Our growing healthcare and human services client is seeking an experienced Director of Information Technology & Health Systems to lead enterprise technology operations, cybersecurity initiatives, healthcare technology platforms, and digital transformation efforts. This senior leadership role is ideal for a technology professional who combines strategic vision with hands-on technical expertise and has experience supporting healthcare systems, electronic health records (EHRs), and complex IT infrastructures. The successful candidate will work closely with executive leadership, clinical teams, and operational departments to ensure technology supports both organizational goals and exceptional service delivery.Position Overview The Director of Information Technology & Health Systems is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, administration, and support of enterprise technology systems across the organization. This role oversees IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud technologies, helpdesk operations, healthcare applications, and electronic health record platforms while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and industry best practices. This position plays a critical role in driving innovation, improving operational efficiency, strengthening cybersecurity, and supporting the organization's long-term technology roadmap.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnology Leadership & Strategic Planning
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive technology strategy aligned with organizational goals and future growth initiatives
  • Partner with executive leadership to identify opportunities for digital transformation and operational improvement
  • Evaluate and recommend technology investments that enhance efficiency, security, and service delivery
  • Lead technology planning efforts and long-term infrastructure initiatives
  • Establish IT priorities, budgets, and implementation roadmaps
IT Infrastructure & Operations
  • Oversee all aspects of enterprise technology infrastructure, including:
    • Network environments
    • Servers and storage systems
    • Cloud platforms
    • End-user computing environments
    • Backup and recovery systems
    • Device management solutions
  • Ensure systems remain secure, scalable, and highly available
  • Manage helpdesk operations and end-user support services
  • Oversee onboarding, offboarding, and user account administration processes
  • Monitor system performance and implement improvements to maximize reliability
Electronic Health Records & Healthcare Technology
  • Lead the administration, optimization, and support of Electronic Health Record (EHR) platforms and related clinical technologies
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership to ensure systems align with patient care workflows and operational requirements
  • Support interoperability initiatives and healthcare data integration efforts
  • Ensure data integrity, reporting accuracy, and system usability
  • Drive improvements to healthcare technology solutions that enhance both patient and staff experiences
  • Support related healthcare applications including patient engagement and population health tools
Cybersecurity, Compliance & Risk Management
  • Lead cybersecurity initiatives across the organization
  • Develop and maintain IT security policies, standards, and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • HIPAA regulations
    • Healthcare privacy requirements
    • Information security best practices
    • Internal governance standards
  • Oversee vulnerability management, patching, and security monitoring programs
  • Coordinate disaster recovery and business continuity planning efforts
  • Assess technology risks and implement mitigation strategies
Governance & Vendor Management
  • Manage technology vendors, consultants, and service providers
  • Evaluate vendor performance, contract compliance, and service delivery
  • Oversee technology procurement and budgeting activities
  • Ensure cost-effective management of technology resources
  • Maintain governance standards for system access, data protection, and technology usage
Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of IT professionals
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Support employee development through coaching, training, and performance management
  • Promote exceptional service delivery and customer support throughout the organization
QualificationsRequired Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 8+ years of progressive IT experience with hands-on infrastructure management responsibilities
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience managing enterprise technology operations
  • Experience supporting Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and healthcare technology platforms
  • Proven experience managing multiple technology initiatives and projects simultaneously
Technical Expertise Strong knowledge of:
  • Enterprise IT infrastructure
  • Network administration

  • Server environments
  • Cybersecurity frameworks and best practices
  • Backup and disaster recovery systems
  • Endpoint management

Healthcare Technology Experience Experience supporting or administering:

Preferred Qualifications Industry certifications such as:
