Job Description

This position offers a $95,000+ starting salary (based on experience), a quality-driven bonus structure and an excellent benefits package.

We are seeking a Director of Nursing (DON) who brings strong clinical judgment, steady leadership, and a genuine commitment to both resident well-being and team development. In this role, you will lead and support a dedicated nursing team, partner with campus leadership, and help ensure consistent, compassionate care in a setting where relationships matter and leadership is present.

Opportunity Details:

  • Full-time 8am-4:30pm, primarily Monday-Friday
  • To support continuous resident care and campus operations, this role includes: a rotating schedule of every 4th weekend, two 11:00am-7:00pm shifts per month, participation in a management holiday rotation and flexibility to meet On Call campus needs.

Director of Nursing (DON) Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Operations & Coordination

  • Monitor and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of resident care

  • Conduct regular rounding to stay informed of resident needs and concerns

  • Perform direct nursing duties as needed

  • Coordinate care with physicians, pharmacy, therapy, and other service providers

  • Collaborate with dining, life enrichment, and other departments to support resident well-being

  • Support coordination of hospital visits and external services

  • Resident Care, Assessment & Planning

  • Partner with leadership to assess prospective residents and determine appropriate placement

  • Oversee admission assessments and ongoing resident evaluations

  • Ensure individualized care and support plans are developed, updated, and accessible

  • Engage residents and families in care planning and provide updates as appropriate

  • Leadership, Culture & Team Development

  • Foster a positive, respectful, and supportive environment for residents, families, and co-workers

  • Promote teamwork, open communication, and a strong wellness-focused culture

  • Lead staff meetings and participate in interdisciplinary and campus-wide meetings

  • Communicate policies, procedures, and organizational updates effectively

  • Lead hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management of nursing staff

  • Conduct performance evaluations and support ongoing professional development

  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels and coordinate staff education and training

  • Provide leadership coverage in the absence of the Executive Director or Associate Executive Director

  • Clinical Compliance, Safety & Medication Oversight

  • Oversee medication administration processes and staff training

  • Monitor medication practices and address errors through appropriate follow-up

  • Promote a safe environment by identifying and addressing risks

  • Respond to emergencies and workplace incidents as appropriate

  • Monitor incident reporting and implement corrective actions

  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and applicable regulations

Director of Nursing (DON) Qualifications:

  • Current, unencumbered RN or LPN license in the state of employment
  • 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience in assisted living, personal care, or long-term care
  • 1-3 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting
  • Strong knowledge of resident care practices, care planning, and team leadership
  • Experience overseeing or supporting nursing staff, including coaching and performance management
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (e.g., PointClickCare) and basic computer systems
  • CPR certification required
