Director Of Nursing, Surgical Services

Westchester community hospital seeks Director of Nursing, Surgical Services to provide strategic and operational leadership for all perioperative nursing activities, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, and patient-centered care. This role oversees the Operating Room and related surgical areas, driving excellence in clinical outcomes, staff engagement, and operational efficiency in alignment with the hospital’s mission, vision, and values.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee all nursing operations within Surgical Services, ensuring compliance with hospital policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate departmental goals, policies, and procedures consistent with the Nursing Department’s philosophy and objectives.
• Establish and maintain standards of nursing care and professional practice within the Operating Room.
• Provide clinical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to nursing staff, ensuring consistent use of the nursing process and evidence-based practice.
• Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and develop staff to foster a high-performing, collaborative team culture.
• Plan and manage departmental budgets, demonstrating sound fiscal responsibility and resource allocation.
• Drive quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs; analyze outcomes and implement corrective actions where needed.
• Promote ongoing staff education and leadership development to ensure clinical competence and professional growth.
• Maintain effective communication and collaboration among staff, surgeons, anesthesia, and other departments to optimize patient flow and satisfaction.
• Actively participate in hospital and departmental committees and contribute to organizational initiatives.

Qualifications:

• New York State Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license.
• A minimum of 3 years of progressive leadership or management experience in the Operating Room.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required.

Salary:

• $165,000 - $170,000
