Director of Nursing (DON)
Behavioral Health & Addiction Treatment
A growing behavioral health and addiction treatment organization is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead nursing operations within a SUD/ MH treatment setting. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing nursing staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, driving quality patient care initiatives, and supporting a multidisciplinary treatment team serving individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.

Position Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, supervision, and development for all nursing staff within the residential treatment programs.
- Ensure delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centered nursing care for individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.
- Manage nursing schedules, staffing plans, and departmental budgets to ensure operational efficiency and quality care.
- Oversee medication management practices and ensure compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards.
- Collaborate with physicians, psychiatric providers, therapists, case managers, and executive leadership to coordinate patient care.
- Monitor clinical outcomes, quality metrics, incident reporting, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Develop and implement nursing policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, and coaching of nursing personnel.
- Ensure readiness for audits, surveys, and regulatory reviews.
- Foster a positive, recovery-focused culture that supports both patients and staff.
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or ability to obtain.
- Previous nursing leadership experience as a Nurse Manager, Assistant Director of Nursing, Director of Nursing, or similar leadership role.
- Experience working in a detoxification and/or residential treatment setting.
- Experience treating patients with substance use disorders (SUD) and co-occurring mental health conditions.
- Strong knowledge of nursing regulations, medication management, and behavioral health treatment environments.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
Preferred
- Previous Director of Nursing experience within behavioral health or addiction treatment.
- Experience with accreditation and regulatory standards (Joint Commission, CARF, or similar).
- Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
