Position Overview

As Director of Operations- Heavy Industrial Electrical, you will provide executive‑level leadership over regional and national operations supporting complex industrial, energy, and mission‑critical electrical construction projects.

This role is responsible for driving safe, profitable, and scalable operations across diverse project environments, including:

  • Oil & Gas and petrochemical facilities
  • Industrial EPC and manufacturing environments
  • Power generation and renewable energy assets
  • Hydroelectric plants and balance‑of‑plant systems
  • Data centers and mission‑critical infrastructure

You will partner with executive leadership to set strategic direction, lead high‑performing teams, and ensure consistent execution across all phases of construction-from preconstruction through commissioning and turnover.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead and oversee multi‑project, multi‑region industrial electrical operations
  • Partner with the Vice President to define and execute strategic growth, operational excellence, and market expansion initiatives
  • Drive P&L performance, operational efficiency, and margin improvement across business units

Safety & Culture

  • Champion a best‑in‑class safety culture across all projects, teams, and regions
  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA, NFPA, NEC, and client‑specific safety standards, particularly in high‑risk industrial environments

Project Execution & Delivery

  • Oversee execution of large‑scale, complex electrical construction projects across industrial and energy sectors
  • Ensure alignment on scope, schedule, budget, quality, and commissioning performance
  • Support high‑risk or critical projects with executive oversight and decision‑making

Preconstruction & Business Development

  • Provide executive oversight for estimating, constructability, and bid strategy
  • Support growth initiatives across industrial EPC, energy, and data center markets
  • Strengthen relationships with clients, EPC partners, utilities, and developers

Team Leadership & Development

  • Build, mentor, and develop high‑performing operational and project leadership teams
  • Drive accountability across Project Managers, Construction Managers, and field leadership
  • Support workforce planning and long‑term talent development strategies

Commissioning & Operational Excellence

  • Oversee execution in commissioning‑intensive environments, including:

  • Power generation startup and energization

  • Industrial system testing and turnover

  • Data center critical system commissioning (where applicable)

  • Ensure successful project closeout, client satisfaction, and repeat business

What It Takes

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 15+ years of experience in power, industrial, or electrical construction operations, including leadership over geographic regions
  • Proven experience managing heavy industrial electrical and inside wiring projects
  • Prior experience in Project Management and operational leadership roles
  • Demonstrated success in team development, succession planning, and organizational leadership
  • Ability to travel extensively, including extended durations up to 100% as needed
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record

Preferred Background

  • Experience supporting Oil & Gas, industrial EPC, power generation, hydroelectric, or data center projects
  • Strong understanding of commissioning‑intensive project environments
  • Experience managing large‑scale, multi‑project portfolios
  • Familiarity with medium‑ and high‑voltage electrical systems, switchgear, and critical infrastructure systems
