This position establishes the process engineering strategy and standards for how work is designed, equipment is specified and integrated, process variation is controlled, capability is developed, and improvements are sustained. It partners across Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, Scheduling and Purchasing to translate technical opportunities into measurable improvements in productivity, reliability, quality, cost, lead time and capacity.

Key Responsibilities

Process Engineering & Production System Strategy

  • Advance process innovation, manufacturability and DFMA in partnership with Engineering, including development of in-house equipment or fixtures where strategically advantageous.

Automation, Capital & Equipment Reliability

  • Own the multi-year automation and capital equipment roadmap, including robotic cells, laser cutting, forming, welding automation and material handling.
  • Establish equipment reliability and TPM strategy for automated and semi-automated assets, including OEE, preventive maintenance expectations and failure analysis.
  • Define technical and functional requirements for new equipment and lead design review, acceptance testing, commissioning and production release while ensuring applicable machine safety standards are met.
  • Build and govern the multi-year plant investment roadmap; lead capital justification, technical supplier/integrator negotiations, schedule and cost governance, and post-installation validation of committed savings.

Quality, Flow & Operational Performance

  • Integrate quality into process design through error proofing, process control, first-time-through improvement, PFMEA/control-plan alignment and structured root-cause resolution.
  • Provide Scheduling with demonstrated capacity and takt and lead material-flow engineering across departments to improve lead time and service performance.

Leadership & Capability Development

  • Build organizational capability by establishing documentation and operating standards, developing supervisors and technical talent, and creating succession depth for critical process engineering and automation capabilities.
  • Report performance, risks and corrective actions through the plant operating review and escalate significant schedule, cost or capability risks with recommended actions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strategic leadership and systems thinking.
  • Strong technical credibility in a manufacturing environment.
  • Business and financial acumen tied to capital investment and operational performance.
  • Cross-functional influence and supplier/integrator leadership.
  • Sound decision-making with incomplete data.
  • Talent development, succession planning and capability transfer.
  • Strong operating discipline with a bias toward verifying conditions at the plant floor.

WORKING CONDITIONS
