Job Description

Ever since we started in 2007, Sunrun has been at the forefront of connecting people to the cleanest energy on Earth. It’s why we’ve become the #1 home solar and battery company in America. Today, we’re on a mission to change the way the world interacts with energy, and we’re building a company and brand that puts power at the center of life. And we’re doing it by designing a dynamic culture where employee development, well-being, and safety come first. We’re unlike any other solar company. Our vertically integrated model gives us total control over every part of the energy lifecycle – from sale through installation and beyond – so you can find endless opportunities for growth. Come join a career you can grow in and a culture you can run with.

The Residential Solar + Storage industry is a highly localized industry with unique market level dynamics on numerous dimensions such as economics, utility tariffs, policy and value proposition. Sunrun is the predominant market leader in this rapidly changing industry with presence in over 20 states across numerous channels. The Product and Strategy team at Sunrun plays a critical role in developing long-term market strategy and driving commercial decisions across various channels that drive market share and margin expansion.

The Director of Product Management, Add-on Products position is among the most challenging and rewarding at Sunrun. You will be at the forefront of developing a product strategy for this vertical, and launching the products that support this strategy. This position will work cross-functionally with our Finance, Technology, Legal, and Customer Experience teams. The ideal candidate for this position will be comfortable problem-solving on their own, but also communicates well with other teams, delivers beyond explicit instructions, and collaborates with other leaders in the Post-Approval vertical on key solutions that are needed to drive meaningful results for Sunrun.

The Residential Solar + Storage industry is complex and success in this role requires an appropriate balance between ability to dig deep into complex datasets and ability to take a step back and assess opportunities in the context of larger market success. This role requires exceptional financial modeling and analytical skills, product development experience, and an ability to collaborate with a highly diverse cross-functional leadership stakeholder group.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with leaders within the Post-Approval product vertical to define Post-Approval strategy, and manage product roadmap to support that strategy

  • Lead product development work in partnership with Finance, Technology and Legal, including full product development lifecycle from ideation and business case development to product launch (and post-launch product management)

  • Conduct financial analysis necessary to support development of new products, and make pricing recommendations with the goal of balancing Sunrun margin while enabling robust growth

  • Maintain dashboards and sources of truth for market level savings estimates across product, channel and market

  • Work closely with senior management on ad-hoc high priority strategic initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of overall experience, and 5+ years of relevant experience in either pricing, product management, financial products, finance, or something similar

  • Experience in top tier management consulting, investment banking, strategic finance, corporate strategy or similar preferred but not required

  • Experience with complex & robust financial modeling and business case development is required

  • Has demonstrated versatility to operate both at a high level and get in the weeds (board room polish + get-it-done grit)

  • Experience with end-to-end product development & management is preferred but not required

  • Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing AI tools to enhance productivity and streamline workflows, or possess the agility and "growth mindset" to rapidly master new AI technologies as they are integrated into Sunrun’s operations.

  • Experience in the solar industry strongly preferred but not required

  • Undergraduate degree in Policy, Business, Economics, Science, Engineering, or other quantitative fields is required
